if this is the door glass, you could still safely use this, just remove all of the glass, so not to have cutting hazzard or bacteria nesting place. replacement would excede cost of microwave, if you could get one.plz rate-bozcro
Hi jnflanders, You've probably solved this by now, but I'll answer just in case. That part is called the stirrer motor. You can replace it yourself, as long as you have an offset phillip's head screwdriver handy. Before you order the replacement part, figure out if your stirrer is driven by a d-shaped or a square shaft. You can tell by taking off the round plate on the inside top wall of the microwave. GE makes stirrer motors for both d-shaped and square shafts, so you'll have to get the right one. Here's the d-shaped motor that fixed this problem with my microwave: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=2024961. Good luck!
My husdand broke our plate. Did you find one yet at a resonable price? If so email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know how much you paid for it.If not you can call GE at 1-866-540-2797 and they will transfer you to the parts department and then you can order a new one. I just called ther but the parts department was closed. So call there M-F 8am-9pm.Good luck!
if there is no plate to unscrew in front of the bulb , then the only way it can be changed is to open the microwave
WARNING: HIGH VOLTAGE CAPACITOR INSIDE WILL STILL BE HOLDING HIGH VOLTAGE
if you are not familiar with this then don't attempt the repair!
then you will need a technician
