Sudden rebooting after 15 minutes of use

Yes, I can not get a consistent session on my Acer-Aspire AST 180UA 381B model desktop. After 10 to 15 minutes of use, the system shuts down and reboots automatically. It runs on Vista and detecting the problem is a mysteryl.

Just a warning: It is never a good idea to tinker around inside your PC while plugged in! One slip could destroy any number of parts. MoBo's, expansion cards in most cases.

If your CPU has a fan mounted directly atop it make sure it is in good working order. And while your in there check your internal battery if you think it's close to replacement time!

Check dust accumulation as mentioned earlier.

Also remove any hardware you recently installed since it started doing this. Products with incompatible drivers can cause the Operating System to crash. Systematically add the products after roughly 30 minutes to determine which product is affecting it.

Chances are there is a accuulation of dust inside your computer, unplug your unit and simply dust off dirt, better yet if you have a grounded vacuum cleaner you cna use this to removed dust, other wise yu could damage your computer by static, check if your exhaust fan is working properly and the fan on the tp of your cpu works properly
cheers

Hello,
several things can be the cause:
Be careful when opening pc with power cord plugged in.
Dangerous voltage which can cause death or severe injuries exists inside pc. If you are not
familiar with handling electricity thye save way DO NOT OPEN THE PC!
1. Is the desktop free standing or in a cabinet or closet? (Overheating?)
1. check for accumulated dust inside the pc. (REMOVE POWER PLUG BEFORE OPENING)
2. check if all fans work.
3. reseat memory chips/cpu and plugs (REMOVE POWER PLUG BEFORE OPENING, ANTI STATIC MESURES MUST BE TAKEN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO COMPONENTS)

Let me know...

Greetings, Matt

It is possible that your computer is overheating and is shutting down to prevent it from doing any harm to itself.
Make sure that all fans are clean, there must be no dust present as it hinders airflow!!!
Install as many fans as possible. Computer temps should be in the region of 30-40 degrees centigrade. To avoid CPU throttling, where the CPU slows down to prevent frying itself.
Please take the time to rate my expertise.
Thanks

SOURCE: Acer Aspire AST180-ED380M was working very

Sounds like the CPU is overheating. The usual cause is the CPU heatsink and fan need cleaning. Take the side cover off and have a look see. Also, it's possible that the heatsink may have come loose and isn't making good contact with the CPU. In either case you may need some CPU paste. Also check any case fans to make sure they are working.
After checking those things, suspect the power supply, memory, and possibly the hard drive.

Prinwhat port do I use to hook up printer to Aspire AST 180 UA 381B

Your printer should connect up to any USB port (small rectangular opening near where the monitor and keyboard plug in (same type of opening). If your printer is so old it has a cream colored cable and one end that has 25 pins sticking out of it, you will save money by just buying a new $30 printer. Anyhow, newer printers connect with a thinner cable like your mouse cable, is flat / rectangular on one end, and is kind of tall-igloo shaped on the other end.

If you go for the new printer, I used to hate Epson, but bought one December 2013, and it uses a lot less ink than my older Canon or HP printer. I bought one with a touch screen panel and it can print from my smart phone and all the PCs without connecting any wires. The one I bought was about $100.

Your PC has a very new wired connection (Gigabit LAN) for your home network; but unfortunately does not come with a built in wireless card. If you are also unfamiliar with the LAN cable, it is an RJ45 connector. Looks just like a phone cable, but 50% wider.

If this is unclear, feel free to add more detail or let me know what you need more clarification on.

All the best to you,
Kerry

Need a password for my acer t180, so that i can restore factory settings

It appears that someone has placed an Administrator password on the machine. To reset the Administrator password, unplug the desktop, open the side cover, remove the CMOS battery for 10 minutes. Then replace the battery, cover, plug the machine back in and reboot, hitting ALT+F10 at the same time to enter the recovery mode.

Could be a faulty power supply or maybe motherboard problem. But I would open the case and clean the processor fan first as it could be a heat issue preventing start up.
