Question about LG DLE5977 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Sounds like solenoid is faulty

DLE5955 dryer makes clicking noise when tumbling, only tumbles for 4-5 spins at a time then stops for about 2 minutes. Clicking solenoid draws lots of power as lighting in house dims during the spin.

Yes, sounds like a faulty relay on the main bd. Could also be the motor is starting to seize up and drawing lots of current. I would suggest a technician look at the unit and test with an AMP probe to determine where and when the excessive power is being pulled.

Why is my tumble dryer making a loud banging noise when on its a white knight model CL3A

Most of the time a tumble dryer will work like a dream but, as with all appliances, occasionally there will be technical problems.
If your tumble dryer is making a banging, whining (or other strange noise) it's best to diagnose and sort out the problem. It could be the result of a number of things, but what you certainly don't want to do is ignore it.
Here are the most common reasons for your tumble dryer making odd noises.
Coins and keys
One of the most common reasons for a banging, rattling or clanking is keys or coins left in pockets - so always check them before you put any clothes in the tumble dryer. More often than not you won't hear anything until the dryer cycle is in full spin.
Uneven surfaces
If the dryer is vibrating or shaking during spinning, check to make sure the dryer's sitting on a level surface. If it's fitted with height adjusters on the front legs, adjust them accordingly to ensure the machine is level as this will often reduce or eliminate the banging sound.
Drum bearings
If the tumble dryer is noisy when its turning and the whole appliance is shaking and rumbling, it could be indicative of a problem with the drum bearings, which help the wheels turn freely and easily.
The drum
If the banging noise is continuous when the drum is turning then it might be problem with the drum itself. If the noise is a metallic one, it could be the result of the drum scraping on something inside the machine. You could always check the drum visually for any marks or dents.
Motor bearings
If the tumble dryer is emitting a high-pitched screaming or whining noise it could be a sign that the motor bearings are wearing out.
Tension pulley wheels
If there's a squeaking noise coming from the dryer it could be the result of wear on the tension pulley wheels. This occurs more frequently on older models...or try this link..

Whirlpool dryer awz 121 only tumbles counter clockwise. This is a dryer that briefly reverses direction, so the only tumbling is when it reverses. The rest of the time, the dryer makes a noise but d

You may want to contact a professional that will have the diagrams for your machine online. there are some here or you can go to another site. like (Just answer.) Be more specific about your problem. It can be fixed . There's no worries.

Are you saying that it does not heat up either ?In addition with not tumbling clockwise ?

Disconnect the dryer first. You can remove the top and front of the dryer to check to see what is happening. If it does not heat . You may need to replace the temperature control relay. If that does not work , the heating elements themselves may need to be replaced.

For the tumbling problem, they also have relay switches that go out.
BUT, if it is tumbling to one side and keeps tumbling then that will probably be enough to dry your clothes. As long as it is not too heavily loaded.

Dryer does not spin easily. stops in mid cycle, sometimes makes whining sound, and does not start without rotating drum by hand first.

It is an electric tumble dryer? Most likely it has a faulty capacitor. This electrical component energises the motor on starting. It is usually located next to the motor, a small white cylinder shaped object, with 2 or 4 connections on it. very simple to replace. In Australia, the capacitor costs around $AU30.00 only.Hope this fixes your problem.

Dryer wont heat up

There could be a number of reasons why your dryer is not heating.
1) The element may be faulty
2) A thermostat or thermistor could be faulty or need resetting (if you have one with a reset button) You would need to check your hand book for this info.
3) you could have a wiring fault or lose terminal.
4) If you have a dryer with a revers tumble (one that goes in the opposit direction for a few minutes before continueing) on some models this incorperates a revers timer that works off the main timer and when it is in revers tumble the heater is switched off. If the timer is faulty it would keep the heater permanently switched off.

My dryer heats up but does not tumble. I replaced

Sounds like worn tub back bearing.
take the belt off and spin the tub by hand to see if it is binding.
check that the pulley isnt loose on the tub back and also the motor pulley, feel if the motor spins free.
Finally check the tub itself for objects poking through or lodged in the outer tank.
Good luck
