    Same problem, won't lite

  • mnewman1 May 11, 2010

Same reply, first look for fuel and spark to see which is missing.

  • mnewman1 May 11, 2010

You can try to lite it with the top cover off. Do you hear a "clicking" sound ? That sound is the spark. Do you see or smell fuel?

  • mnewman1 May 11, 2010

Is it missing spark or fuel?

U sure you have gas? Smell it? When you have a pilot there is always gas going to it unless the line to it is damaged or clogged.

Elco fireplace blower wont work

If your blower/fan blows air into a "box" with tubes that conduct heated air out through the screen, that assembly may have failed. I had one that burned out and had to be replaced.

The pilot seems to light but then when I turn the knob to ignite the main burner, the pilot goes out. Is there a technique to clean the igniting assembly?

let the pilot light burn for a few min and get hot after this try slowly moving the knob over to full burn. Sometimes it just need to heat up.

Burner will not light. With the pilot light burning and the gas is turned-on to ignight the main burner the pilot light goes out.

call aservice tech your pilot light might be blocked therefore the pilot flame might not be strong enough to handle the puff of gas when the gas valve opens ps. if the unit is off in the summer spiders are usually the problem. Hope this helps
