If you have contacts at the NSA or the CIA or other similar organization then you may be able to. For mere mortals recovering signals more than 40dB down is an impossible task. Sorry.

SOURCE: Broken video management file/ recording failure

Although the instructions don’t make it clear, it seems to be important that the camera is turned off before you connect or disconnect the USB cable. The instructions do mention that you should not delete or rename files on the camera except in the EXT_MOV folder. The camera’s firmware is apparently quite fragile about file names and the presence of the extra hidden folders that both the Windows and Macintosh operating systems create when you delete something.

SOURCE: movie recording disabled

I have the same problem.  If you have taken the disk out of the re-corder, then you can no longer finalize the disk...and you will potentially lose the data on the disk.  Their only solution was to take it to a professional media service and see if they could recover it...what a joke...at no point in the manual does it indicate that you cannot remove your disk or face the potential of losing your recording...I lost the recordings of the birth of my son...I will never forgive that...

SOURCE: Is there any way to record a video onto the sd card instead of tape?

You can't. SD card is only to take images in this camera.

SOURCE: same problem "movie recording disabled"

Scott,
Since this is a new camera, nothing was changed as far as the disc, it should work, has it been switched to "still" for photos, that's the message that comes up when you change it. You shouldn't have to finalize the disc before you shut off the camera, try starting it with another disc then shut it off replace it with your baptism disc and try to preview the video, if it shows you should be able to aad to it or then finalize it.

I have old home movies on these tapes.. I am looking into buying the Pinacle Dazzle DVD Recorder (convert) will this convert my tapes to DVD? Does anyone know?

You already have Movies on TDK E-HG 120 VHS tapes; All you want is to Transform the media on the tapes into another record Media or on DVD.

The following process would make possible the project

1. A DVD Recorder device would transform the movies already on one media to another media.
Note: The recorder that would be acquired should have a feed area for the VHS tapes on one hand, to be played, while on the other hand, a DVD disk area from which disk medium would be recorded.

Important Notes.
The devices required to make the process achievable includes
1. The DVD Recorder or Player alsoo known with multi perpose functionality for signal convertion capability
2. The DVD recordable disks on which to record a movies onto.

Caution
The process of recording would require selection features determinable on the recorder device else would produce movies with undesireable features

For example; VHS movies are appear in decodeable formats integral when displayed on VHS players. The caution is to select a signal conversion format suitable for movies that have to transform between recordable media.

1. A DVD disk medium has formats as design specification and on which requires consideration when attempting to transfer multi media or motion pictures.

Type of formats of decodes
NTSA standards
PAL standards
Mescem standards

NOTE;
Whenever the option is available, select NTSA or PAL for appropiate code transformation
Your DVD RECORDER DEVICE SHOULD HAVE THE OPTION TO RECORD CONSIDERING MOVIES ACROSS MEDIUM TYPES

REMEMBER;
consult professional advise before acquiring an devices and mediums

If any consultation is required, refer to user guides or manuals of the devices in question.

Consult a technical expert when the need requires it.

Want to import onto more than one DVD

Most video editing program should have all the features you are looking for. In my case, I use Vista's "Window Movie Maker" that came with the OS. It will first import videos into the program so you can see diffent section of the tape and I can import more tape and all will be displayted on the screen. Then I will drag those images to the sorting area at the bottom in order I wanted then Record! When recording on first DVD is complete, program will ask if I want to copy another. All other program would be similar to this program. -Good luck.

Blank VHS tapes work; Movie VHS tapes don't

Hello statman_4

I have an important question; Are you watching a VHS tape you recorded of another VHS movie? In other words did You rent Ben Hur and record it and then tried to watch the recording? If you did that's your problem. VCRs in the late 1990's (1997-1999) began to employ MacroVision circuitry in all VCRs, and DTR. MacroVision Circuitry makes the VCR record tapes with MacroVision in such a way that the horizontal and vertical sync pulses are not at the proper amplitude, and the AGC (Automatic Gain Control) is tricked into over compensating thus creating the scrambled picture. There is a way around this. You need to buy a video stabilizer SIMA makes such devices and some other companies do to. You feed the signal from your VCR into the unit and it corrects the video image by readjusting the video signal.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Mode for playback of older 8mm tapes using Sony DCR-TRV730 ?

In 1990s Sony camcorder records movie in analog format so playing in digital camcorder like DCR-TRV730 doesn't mean it will be converted in digital format and you can not import file in PC for editing purpose. You will get analog signal while playing back old cassettes.

Regarding SP, LP speed, its decided at time of recording. Camera sens SP or LP automatically in playback and set itself accordingly.

If you want to convert old cassettes into digital format, connect our camcorder to DVD recorder and burn DVD which is digital format, copy DVD files in to PC and do desired editing.

Recording from one vhs recorder to another.

Hi,

If your plan is to copy a VHS movie to a blank VHS tape, the connections would require a 3 wire RCA connector/cable. The unit where the original movie will be played will be the player. Connect the yellow video RCA cable to the VIDEO OUT, the red & white to the AUDIO L/R OUT. On the 2nd unit designated as recorder, slip in the blank VHS tape. Connect the other end of the RCA 3 wire cable to yellow VIDEO IN, the red & white to the AUDIO L/R IN. Connect the RF OUT of the 2nd unit (recorder to the ANT IN of a TV set. Set the TV to either Channel 3 or 4 as the case may be.

If the recorder has a manual selector or via remote, pls verify that it is set to Video and not tuner (or channels) input.

Press Record on the recorder (2nd unit), press play on the 1st unit (player). The TV will serve as monitor to your copying progress.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or shoould you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

DV-PC recorder

DV-PC Recorder is a Windows XP only application that enables you to record images and sound on the tape in the camcorder and on the computer's hard disk by connecting a camcorder equipped with the DV CONTROL function to a computer using an IEEE1394 (DV) cable. DV-PC Recorder has the following features. 1. You can record movies simultaneously on your computer's hard disk and on the tape by pressing the start/stop button on the camcorder. 2. It enables long, continuous recordings, which you cannot achieve with the tape alone. (Approximately four and a half hour's worth of recording will fit on a 60GB hard disk.) 3. You can start editing the movies on the computer right after recording, as the images and sound are saved on the computer's hard disk. (Optional editing software is required to edit movies) 4. You can record movies on the tape in the camcorder and on the computer's hard disk by controlling the DV-PC Recorder from your computer.
