I can not seem to pin point this particular problem in the forums. Recently TV was starting up with a "rainbow like" colored picture, so that you saw multiple pictures in different colors. including bent or bowed picture; now it has gone to only a VERY dark obscured picture with thick vertical bars. Can you identify the possible issue so that I might be able to search for the correct replacement parts?
This set like most of these has 3 hidden Menu's=
1. Adjustments (stay out of that one)
2. Convergence (like the one in customer menu but better)
3. Option Menu**************
It will not correct the convergence circuit problem as those adjustments are stored in the Digital Convergence unit on the main board.
What it will do is a hard reset of the TV---everything back to factory original--can cure odd issues: no sound, video issues, you name it.
If you want I have found a site that has this for each of these sets--IT CAN ONLY BE DONE WITH THE ORIGINAL MITSUBISHI REMOTE.
I can get you a link to the site and manual for this set--since I never trust certain sites I do not download that manual but you can look at every page and copy paste to your computer the information needed for the OPTION menu and how to do it----stay out of adjustment menu as one wrong move and poof!

The convergence circuits straighten out the edges of the picture, putting the 3 colors exactly where they should be for the picture to look normal. There are usually 2 large IC's that handle the 6 convergence channels and if one of them burns out then one of the colors bends dramatically. If the power supply for the convergence circuits stops working, then all 3 colors bend in, the colors do not line up with each other and the image looks almost 3D, and the adjustments in the convergence menu will have no effect. I would bet that is the case with your set - the convergence power supply has quit working. If you do not have experience troubleshooting power supplies and realigning convergence circuits in projection TV's then allow a qualified tech to handle it for you.

This is due to failure of convergence out ICs that need to be replaced in D board.

Mitsubishi WT-46807, owned since new, replaced one of the boards a couple of yrs ago. I see plenty of commentary on the convergence problem but I don't think that applies here - looking for confirmation or help
