Power pops off and goes to standby

I have tapped in all areas and nothing responds in any way. However if I open the back and blow a fan (strongly)into the chassis area it does not happen. It seems to be a thermal problem. When it shuts off, it does so with a loud pop from the speakers (EMP?).In the back on the board marked into 2 sections "Primary" and "Secondary", an LED marked "power down", lights up. I hope this info is relevant. thanks john Power pops off and goes to standby after running for period of time. After a while power can be turned on again. john Best Solutionposted on Oct 18, 2006 By jomaru Rank: Guru Rating: 85.83%, 96 votes The first thing to look for with symptoms like this one is loose conections,in your case you might want to tap on the set while is working to see if you make it go off, if the picture distorts in any way ,if you are familiar with tv service you can remove the back cover and try it,tap lightly in different areas to see if it reacts differently, the set needs to be on while you try this and someone else need to look at the picture while you are doing it.You can use a wooden or rubber handle escrewdriver,it should not take much to make it act up.If you are not too familiar with tv service be safe and call for assistance from a servicer, you will need to resolder the loose conection if you find them,be attentive were you tap it so when it reacts you can flip the board and check the area you were taping on.Let us know how it goes or if you need more information.

We have an advantage in this set and is that without the fan still takes a while to turn off,I wish I had a picture of the area were the fan is pointing to ,I would like to try something different and is using a hair dryer o a heat gun if you have one but the dryer is ok,You can point it to an specific area of about 4 " at the time, dont let the heat spread to wide or we won't know what we have made react, make sure the tip of the dryer is not metal and it does not touch anything, the distance should be about 2 or 3 " away.Once you make the set react you need to do it again to make sure you have the right area again, once you have it isolated to that area it will be easier to find the guilty one.Be careful and let me know how it goes please.

You might want to remove the fan but try the hair dryer on the section were the fan air is the stronger.Stay away from high voltage leads.

LG 42 Plasma try's to turn on but just goes back into "stanby" ?

Check to see if you get Va and Vs voltages from the power supply. There should be some wires running to the y-sus. A couple of those wires will be labeled va and vs. Are they present? There will be a sticker stuck to the panel somewhere telling you what they should be.

Hi- we are having a problem with our ps3....it just started overheating....we forgot to open the door...I heard the fan kick in...so we turned off the ps3 to let it cool down....now the ps3 is running...we...

try video reset

when ps3 is in standby mode(red light)
press and hold the power button till you hear a second beep.

standby mode press hold power........"beep"......"beep"..release power button

then try rebuilding the database and the file system in recovery consol

to get to the recovery consol press and hold the power button when ps3 is in standby mode(red light) till you hear a double beep. sometimes the ps3 does a beep then another beep and goes back into standby thsi is fine just release the power and quikly press and hold it again till you get double beep.

like on my 80g system it goes like this

ps3 standby...press hold power.......beep .........beep........stanby again....release and hold power again.......beep .........double beep...release power now you should be in recovery menu.

Let me help you regarding this, As your notebook is not having low room to handel the standby applications, i suggest you to change the power options in the control pannel. There you find POWER OPTIONS icon click on it and go to advance tab, there u find the option called WHEN YOU CLOSE THE LID, put it to DO NOTHING. So that nothing happens when you close the lid. I hope this helps you. BYE

Power comes on, then quickly off...

I have this exact same issue; search engine took me here. I have been experiencing this problem for about a year now. When you power on, the RED standby light goes out, the power light turned GREEN, you might hear a small pop sound, then the RED standby light goes back on. YOU HAVE BLOWN A FUSE. My problem is this is occuring much more frequently now and I'm going through fused like crazy. So I'm looking for a long term solution. To replace the fuse, turn off the standby power switch on the front. Unplug the power cable. Open the back panel. All logic and power modules are on the bottom of the cabinet. Therer is a large power module in the middle. In the middle of this module are 3 fuses. The one that typically blows is the one in the middle. It's a 5 amp fuse, but double check the rating before replacing. Good luck, Mark

Drive door will not open nor will it play

To open the drive door this is not a perfect fix, but it will allow to use it. After the unit is powered on: 1)Hit the "Open/Close" button 2)Wait a while (you will get the timing down) 3)Tap gently, yet briskly at the joint where the plastic faceplate connects with the metal top of the unitat the area situated around the middle of the dvd tray (area in the attached pic, that the red arrow points to)
