1. If the interface of the webcam to PC is via USB, use the USB ports at the back of the cpu
2. Try to close other applications in your computer when using webcam
3. If a webcam requires any driver or software for it to work, then try using the lastest software for it.

When you are looking for the driver make sure you know your computer are using which Operating System (XP, Vista or whatever) and what is the platform (32bit or 64bit), and make sure you are looking for the right driver (vendor, model).. Usually for laptops it's specific depending on what is the laptop brand and model..

It sounds like you need to check your USB controllers through Device Manager as well as reinstalling Yahoo Messenger.

1. Go to Device Manager and verify that there are no yellow exclamation marks or question marks, if there are reinstall them.
2. Test your webcam after this point because one of the USB drivers should be your webcam driver.
3. Reinstall Yahoo messenger and test it with your webcam.

By deleting drivers in Device Manager, your computer will attempt to do a reinstall only if your computer needs that driver.

Skype keeps on dropping off, when I talk to someone. What could be the problem? HELP

i have encountered this before:
in most cases, reinstalling skype does the job. if this is not the case, there might be a conflict with a driver skype uses. in most cases this is the network card driver. reinstalling this (preferably with the most recent version) should help... in some rare cases it's the webcam driver that crashes the system.
