I have a ZD8350LA ,some days ago the battery stopped charging and the indicator led blinks every time the battery is in the device, my computer is only 10 months old, can it be a configuration problem on the motherboard? or the battery has broke down?

Same Problem

-   I have this problem now with a Dell Latitude. But a few years ago I had a Compaq with the same problem, and there was some kind of charging device inside -- after the ac cord -- that went. They replaced the charger and away I went. No problem in 6 years since. But aparently the orange light flashing on the Dell means the battery is dead. Personally, with all these Dell battery problems, I'm starting to believe Dell is ****. -   Guest

-   I have an HP zd8000 with a similar issue. The battery would not charge so I bought a new battery but it still will not work. The power shows at 0%. If I am using the laptop with the cord and unplug it while it is on it will operate for about 30 seconds before dying. The battery has been checked and is fine. Any ideas?-   winsalm

From HP website- worked immediately for me.
This document pertains to HP Notebook PCs with Windows Vista. Understanding battery charging issues If the notebook battery is not charging or the notebook does not indicate that the battery is charging, the most likely scenario is that the battery itself is operating correctly, but its power management software may have become corrupt. In order to correct the problem, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the power management software by using the Device Manager. This document will explain how to uninstall and reinstall the ACPI Battery listings in Windows Vista, as well as how to obtain and install updated BIOS files, if needed to correct other battery issues. Uninstalling and reinstalling power management software in Windows Vista In order to correct problems with the battery's power management software, follow the steps below.
  1. Click Start and type device in the search field, then select Device Manager .
  2. Expand the Batteries category.
  3. Under the Batteries category, right-click the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listing, and select Uninstall . WARNING: Do not remove the Microsoft AC Adapter driver or any other ACPI compliant driver.
  4. On the Device Manager taskbar, click Scan for hardware changes . Alternately, select Action > Scan for hardware changes .
Windows will scan your computer for hardware that doesn't have drivers installed, and will install the drivers needed to manage your battery's power. The notebook should now indicate that the battery is charging.

I have the same problem with our HP pavilion dv6000. You might want to try a BIOS update. That helped me... but for only two weeks after which the problem returned. It may be a permanent fix for others... check hp.com

I opened up the adaptor and found that they didn't solder a contact point to the copper plate. I use a clamp from the outside to force that contact and it works now.

I also have that battery problem. Its spoilt

It could be the either the battery or the AC/Adapter.

Due to the Sony battery situation, HP will need to see if your battery is one of the ones that will need to be recalled.

http://bpr.hpordercenter.com/ebpr/landin...

The AC Adapter may also be defective and not charging your battery. Is the indicator light on the adapter turned on? Can you get another AC adapter to test out? If not, you can order another one from here:

I had bought a second battery for my HP dv6000 after it had got to 0% not charging and a new battery did the same thing in a couple months.

Yesterday, I noticed I had got up to 1% not charging and found that it was shutting down PC with AC cord in and battery in, take out battery, put it back in. Did it 2 times and second time charge light came on steady and it charged. Seems like when powered down, the charger has a chance of working when putting a battery back in with the power connected as it takes a number of seconds to react with the charger light. Taking battery in and out when powered on doesn't seem to help.

Wonder if it letting it get down to 0% that causes the trouble? Also as a precaution, I remove the baterry after I power it down.

But I see some of you have gotten stuck at other power levels, so trying powering it down with AC adapater and battery in, remove battery and then put in back in, see if charge light will come on steady.

The Hp battery check is junk always recommending to "calibrate" the battery. Also tried re-installing ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery, no change.

3 Cheers for trial and error! HP laptops have problems with their charger systems!

HP zd8205us. I bought a new power cord AND a new battery, no change. After charged, the system shows battery at 100%, but if unplugged, will shut off after about 1 min. If I turn on while unplugged, it will almost make it past POST.
What a shame for such an expensive laptop.
