Question about HP Photosmart 4180 All-in-One Printer

1 Answer

Missing yellow when printing/even after many cleaning attempts!

I bought this HP 4180 all in one about 6 months ago, while trying to install, I found it wasn't compatable with my win98, so I resealed everything. Now I have a new pc, installed everything and it does print. It's just that after repeated cleanings the printed test sheets still come out without yellow. Can I clean the holes with alcohal, or better not to? Is this happening because I let it sit resealed, and a new ink cartridge will be fine?

Thanks all!!

New ink cartridge is much advisable. but for expriment basis i will tell you to place the ink cartridge in the bowl of water only the head from where the ink comes out in the water for nearly 24 hours.then remove the cartridge and clean it completely.then check. hope this helps............
thanks.

you are lucky to have use the cartridges of your printer for 19 months. In my office experience, I am actually replacing the cartridges of my printers within a year. Just a regular life span of an ink refilled cartridge.

New Cartridges - not all color ink printing!

It sounds that the ink inside the cartridge has partly dried up.

This can happen to my printer when I don't use it for a couple of months too.

Hope this helps!

HP will not recognise new cartridge

The problem you are describing with the yellow cartridge sounds like ink starvation possibly due to a clogged print head or an air bubble in the print head. Since the machine is so new I would contact HP to get the print head replaced. As for the magenta cartridge, exchanging it for a new one at the store you bought it from should fix the problem. It sounds like the chip on the one you have is either damaged or wasn't set to read full ink levels.

HP Photsmart 4180 will print but not scan.

Your CD's drivers probably aren't approved for Vista. Below is a link to the HP support site's Vista driver download page for your all in one.

HP color laser 2550L prints only in yellow

Hi Mmgrafde,

Press the Go and Rotate Carousel buttons simultaneously. This will calibrate the printer. See if this works.

Otherwise....Remove all cartridges and drum. Switch off printer. Close the lid. Switch on printer and wait until any churning stops. Insert the drum and close the lid. Wait until any churning stops. Put in one cartridge at a time, closing the lid and wait till it stops churning each time. With the last cartridge put in, it will churning longer (calibrating). Try to print from your computer.

It could also be that the toner could actually have run out for the other colors.

Are you sure that none of the other colours are empty? If they are then this could be the problem

HP 2600N- only printing solid yellow sheets

This is easy enough - ring HP and tell them to come and replace it. If the machine is less than 30 days old (i believe) you are entitled to class it as DOA and receive a new machine rather than a fix. The solid colour is indicative of a process engine/formatter fault

Not printing color yellow

Interestingly, mine will print only magenta. I removed the cartridges. Upon inspection, the cartridges that won't print have ink in the clear plastic bubble that I believe is supposed to remain inkless. I'm not sure if this is the problem, but check your cartidges, too. I doubt I would get a refund for the cartridges, even though I only bought them a month ago.
