Anyone have a workable solution to this? I'm experiencing the same problem with my 5535. Tried flashing the BIOS but had error message saying my current version is newer and so it wouldn't flash it? Any ideas anyone?

  • acer5535 Apr 14, 2009

I've got the same problem... I bought mine yesterday and it has just turned for the fitfh time on a black screen.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

  • Anonymous Apr 21, 2009

As with everyone else, the screen went blank at random times

I returned mine to ACER and since its return its worked perfectly. Despite having a duff product, their after sales service is pretty good. I arranged for it to be picked up at my office on the Friday. It was returned the following Thursday. All at their expense.

I had the same problem, going to a blank screen within minutes of booting up. I noticed that this coincided with the wireless light flashing which would indicate some sort of conflict between the wireless driver and the display driver possibly. I had to reboot into safe mode with networking to keep it connected. I then updated the wireless driver and rebooted into normal mode. Hey presto! It works and has now been running for several days without any black screens. I did not have to touch the BIOS at all. Mine is currently 1.03. Hope this helps some of you. P>S> Got mine from Dixons as a reconditioned unit at 3/4 the normal price , cost me £329. Not bad when they are still selling at Comet for £449.

Hello I have an acer aspire 5535 and it keeps

The complete solution to this fault (Acer 5535 keeps crashing under vista) is to use Windows XP instead of Vista. Set up a Dual Boot so you can CHOOSE to load XP or Vista each time you turn on the laptop. I've put XP on my 5535 and it's SO much faster and seems perfectly stable now - no crashing at all.

A full video showing how to do this is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdfU9TXIAd4

Once you've done this you won't have any problems with the laptop anymore.
This is a perfect solution to the crashing problem!

Brand New laptop, won't start

Try taking the battery out before you turn it on. Have seen completely a dead dead battery keeping a laptop from starting up. Does the hard drive activity light flickering? If it is you can try holding down the Function button (FN) and there should be another button to hit to switch between LCD\CRT.

My acer aspire 5535 screen keeps going blank

I had this problem. Laptop has been running for 24 hours and not a problem :-)

>Visit http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads.html
>Once on the website, select the Aspire 5535
>Then use the drop down and select "Bios Update for Vista" and select v1.04
>Once download is complete, extract to a temporary folder (eg create a folder in program files and extract there).
>Once this is down, go to the folder and open:
>ATI folder
>x86 folder

Ensure all other applications are closed.

>then run the CP2A_104 application.

Let this complete, the system then should reboot.

Once your back on, you should be good to go. This is a reminder, this may not work on all systems but it did on mine. You do this at your own risk and I accept no responsibility for any problems occured. If in doubt, refer to the Acer support line.

I wish you all the best as I know how much of a pain in the arse this problem is.
