Question about Pioneer SX-315
i have inherited a Pioneer vsx-d902x, without a manual or remote control. the trouble i'm having is that i'm not getting any sound from the speakers. i am using Bose "Freestyle Speakers". i've tried connecting the speakers from the rear and multi-room part of the panel, but to no avail.
i get sound through the headphones, but not the speakers.
am i looking at a problem that can be fixed without the manual or without taking the unit to the repair shop? do you have any idea what might be the problem? please help! thanks!
Most of these older machine had speaker switches on the front panel. Can you check what they are set to. It may be that both switches(A and B) are set in, or set out. this could present the problem you are having with no sound. turn on just one switch that corresponds the connections you have made on the rear (use speaker A) Another thing to check, is when you first turn on the amp, do you hear a relay click shortly after you switch on. If you don't hear this delayed click, then there may well be a problem in the output stages of the amp. If this is the case, then you will need to take it to a tech to have a look and see what has failed in the amp. Hope this info helps, if you have any questions, I am happy to try and help you further.

Your receiver has a wonderful recessed button on it for resetting. I know this as after a flurry of putton pushing, I rendered it unusable. The reset button is just above the PHONO button. Simply press it while the power is on. It will erase the internal memory and place the unit on standby/off mode. Be sure to check the speaker on/off buttons on the left above the headphone jack. Pressing them toggles the particular speaker set between on and off. Thats about it. By the way, the 902 was a rather expensive receiver for its day. I bought one on EBAY for around $65. I recently acquired the hi quality audio bug and purchased some upscale (for me anyway) Paradigm Monitors. I was contemplating buying a new receiver or amp combo, but after hearing the speakers on the 902, I decided it sounds fantastic and will keep it. I would suggest getting it back from your friend :-).

We have this same receiver and their is little "jumpers" that connect the pre amp to the amplifier. They are in the back. Without the jumpers, you will not get sound from the speakers.
