Re: Experts, kirby here, I need to know if I can replace...
If the screen size is not matched by the tv it will not fit the tv exactly and picture will not look proper.but if the size and thickness is same it can be used.using the exact screen of same model number is much advisable.but you can try it as an expriment.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement.
you will need to either take off the back cover and get the panel part # (will be listed on a white sticker on the panel) and order that exact part #. You can also get the panel part # by contacting Vizio and give them your TV serial #. Most likely it will be cheaper for you to replace the TV vs repairing the set especially with Black Friday deals coming up soon.
I have worked on many of the Vizio TVs. Unfortunately Vizio does not have replacement screens. Your best bet is located the same model with a good screen, that may need a good working signal (Main) board. This is the only real option. Thanks for asking me.
You will need to replace the LVDs cable. You do it yourself, if your a techie. There are a few websites that sell the cable. This is a known issue with the Vizio line. If you need more details on replacing it let us know.
I had the same problem with my 32" Vizio lcd tv, I took it to a repair shop and they said it might be the motherboard but they didn't seem too sure about. I am considering ordering the motherboard and trying to fix it myself hope this helps.
