500GB premium edition my book external hard drive wont work

I have a 500 gb western digital hard drive and it just stopped working it makes a ticking sound when pluged in the only thing I have on it is music It is only 2 yrs old and help would be great thanks Just wondering if I need to just throw it away

- I too have the same problem. The device manager shows the driver is installed properly but it is not visible in "my computer". It is making a ticking sound other than that nothing is happening- pavan2603
