How much is it to replace the lamp and how do I do it. The red light flashing for lamp means the lamp needs to be replaced for sure?

I'm sorry that the LAMP light flashing. If the screen becomes dark, the color looks unusual, or the LAMP indicator on the front of the TV flashes, it indicates that the lamp of the TV needs to be replaced. Based on the information you have provided, it is the time to replace the lamp with a new one. XL2100 is the replacement lamp for the TV.

The Original Replacement LAMP costs $199 from Sony. Please click hear to order it online.

Please refer page # 16 of the Instruction Manual of the TV to get the instructions to replace the lamp.

Click hear to download the Operating Instructions if you don't have one handy.

I hope the information helpful. Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require any additional help/clarifications.

Sony Grand WEGA KDF-60XBR950 60 green orange green red flashing light

3 blinks is a lamp cover error, did you make sure that the lamp cover is screwed in tight? Also check the lamp cover for deformity, there is a problem with your model where the set over heats and melts the lamp cover a little causing it not to make connection with the lamp cover switch. Let me know if you find either of these problems? If not we can troubleshoot a little further.

I have a Sony KDF-60XS955 tv. It won't power on,

I have that manual. There are three lights to the left of the power button. One is labled LAMP. The manual states "The projection lamp, which illuminates the picture, has a limited life. If the screen becomes dark, the color looks unusual, or the LAMP indicator on the front of the LCD projector TV flashes, it is time to replace the lamp with a new one (not supplied). Use a Sony XL-2200 replacement lamp (not supplied) for replacement. Use of any other lamp may damage the LCD projection TV." I also found in a different page " LAMP LED lights up in red when the lamp for the light source has burnt out." I guess burnt out would be extream. I found one other if you had opened the light bulb cover and didn't close it properly. " If the lamp cover is not reattached securely, the self-diagnostic function may be triggered and the POWER/STANDBY indicator flashes three times." You can down the sony manual at http://www.docs.sony.com/release/KDF60XS955.pdf

I have noticed the screen is now not as bright as it use to be, still works just not bright. A darker look is the best way to describe it

Hi,

The most common indications of a weak bulb in a Sony LCD Rear Projection TV are:
  • Dimimage with low brightness and contrast.
  • NoPicture, Dark Screen.
  • Shadowsin Image, sometimes circular.
  • Intermittent Shutdown.
  • Fluctuating or Flashing Brightness.
  • Longerthan Normal starting time.
Also check for distortion caused by Optical Engine Failure. If any of these faults are present, bulb will not fix. Sony Optical Engine Fault Gallery

My compuetr screen does light up when power is connected it dark

You may have a faulty inverter or defective CCFL lamp. A faulty CCFL lamp may have the following symptom: Screen flashes on and off or displays reddish pink hue. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering and/or with dim display or appear black. Picture flickers on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replace the CCFL lamp.
To determine if the video card or the LCD is faulty, connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight or a faulty inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp. Usually the CCFL lamp fails before the inverter.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

How do you know when the lamp is gone on a Sony LCD Projection TV??

The lamp indicator on the front of the TV flashes when the lamp is busted and must be replaced in that case. The lamp must replaced too if the screen becomes dark or the color looks unusual.
Feel free to tell me if you need guidance in replacing the lamp. Just give me the model.
