Question about Dell A920 InkJet Printer

Poor Print Quality

The print quality is very poor and characters fade completely out. Communication with pc is good and software is properly installed. The ink cartridges clean and full. I've done everything I can think of.

    I have physically cleaned the printer ink cartridges. I have also used the software electronic commands to clean the printer head. No improvement.

Firs of all perform maintenance by following steps below

  1. Power the printer off and remove the power cord from the back of the printer unit.
  2. Lift the scanner unit until the scanner support keeps it open.

Lifting the Scanner Lid
Poor Print Quality - 107419437.gif
  1. Manually move the ink-cartridge carrier to the left by gripping the top of the rubber carrier belt and gently pulling it across towards the right hand side of the printer.
  2. Take a warm, semi-damp paper towel and gently clean the wiper on the right side of the maintenance station.
  3. After cleaning the wiper, gently slide the ink-cartridge carrier back to its original location.
  4. Close the lid to the unit.
  5. Reconnect the power cord to the printer unit and power it on.

    After perform maintenance go to Printer and Faxes, Choose your printer properties, and change the printing quality higher under Printing Preferences.
Good Luck

Few words I can provide as it is clear that you know what you are doing,

You may need to clean the print head up to 4 times. You can also turn the printer off and wait at least 6 hours. Then try printing again.

If the nozzle check still has gaps after you have run 4 consecutive cleaning cycles, your printer will require service.

Hi,

Initially, a couple of ideas you may to explore/check:

  • are you using original ink;
  • is the printer setup for normal/standard print output quality and not draft;
  • is the paper quality/type as needed and printer configured for it;
  • are the print heads clean.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

sounds like a lable has gotten stuck in the fixing unit, you may need a tech to remove it, do not use any sharp tools to remove it ,this could cause damage to your roller,

Have you check the teflon at the heater? have you clean the reflector of laser? Try that.

Poor print quality .... Canon Pixma MP140 ...

Paper quality does make a difference in the quality of print, but it's usually in the areas of blurriness and vibrance. If your prints are coming out faded, the quality for your prints might be set to 'economy', which doesn't use very much ink. If you have it set for 'quality' prints, I would try replacing the ink cartridges.

Printer doesn't print well

Hav you replaced with original cartridges or 3rd party/refilled ones? This is a common problem when using generic/refilled cartridges. Let me know that first..

When you say poor quality, do you mean faded printouts, or broken print? Kindly explain in detail, so I can assist you further.

Most likely the fuser has lost part of the teflon from the heat roller. Having said that, the first step in any print quality issues is to change the toner cartridge. good luck!
