EV 700 Occasionally the monitor shudders and then the light goes dim and the colour goes all greeny blue. When I switch the monitor off and then on, it works normally again - for a while

Re: EV 700

If the colors change intermittently, I would check the CRT socket.Make sure it is seated firmly against the tube. Then check the CRT socket connections which may require re-soldering. If that doesn't help, you could have a bad CRT (internal shorts). Sometimes a CRT rejuvenator can clear these intermittent shorts.

When I turn the monitor on it has a red green blue screen

It would appear that the monitor is not getting a signal from the computer. You should try to power down the monitor and remove the power plug and let it cycle. Also, check the VGA cable connections to make sure they are connected properly.
If this does not cause any change, you can try to connect it to a different computer and/or connect another monitor to the computer you are using this Gateway monitor on if you can do that.

Let's start see if we can get this problem solved.

  1. Please try by reseating the RAM modules.
  2. Please check the VGA output port is properly fixed.
  3. Reset the BIOS to its default.
  4. Check whether the monitor colour resolution is out of range
If yes, set it to default.

Please check whether is works with different computer
IF yes, Check the VGA port.

Monitor showing way too dark

While there may be other components bad, your picture tube is most likely worn out. With age and use the electron guns get weak, and the dim screen is the result. There is no cure except to replace the tube, and that's completely uneconomical. A new LCD monitor is less than $100.

The Dell AS 501 monitor display comes and goes off in seconds. If I switch off and on again, the display comes back and goes off again in less than a second. I repeat this as many times the same monitor...

This sounds like the power inverter is failed.. It's what pumps up the power for the light in the monitor.
You could try unplug the sound bar from the back of monitor if you have the sound bar installed. Just a maybe..
To fix the inverter (replace) is usually better to buy newmonitor unless you do it your self.
The defective LCD Backlight inverter will cause the following symptoms:
  • No Display, but Power Indicate light stay on green (Or Blue).
  • Screen flash on and off and the power indicate light stays on green (or Blue).
  • Dim Display
Go here to start looking if you want to try yourself.

My EV 700 screen picture is condenced has one bright clear line in middle screen and two more lines faded, space in between lines

Sounds like a CRT problem but to be sure, hook up another monitor to the computer and if you get the same exact lines then you know its a problem with the video card, if the lines go away then you know its a problem with the monitor.

On turn on of the EV 700 Monitor only a horizontal line is seen across the screen. Seems as if the vertical scan or oscillator has stopped working ??

check the pins on the connector cable. make sure that not one of them is bent. If it is, it could cause the problem as on of the signals is not there. You can get some needle nose pliers (thin ones) and carefully bend (form) the pin back straight. Once straight, carefully insert the connector back in. Then, pull it out to make sure it did go in and not get bent again.

If the cable is good on both ends, (you can ohm them out with an ohm meter), make sure all is ok on the computer end. (drivers, video card, software). If it is, then pitch it and get an LCD. You don't know what you are missing. Better yet, don't break a sweat. Go and buy an in expensive LCD screen. you'll be glad you did. Besides, the EV700 is now old, full of dust, lint, cooties, etc.
