how are you try to set the secuirty on the router??

you need to use CAT-5 wire connected to the router, configure it. then use the laptop, find the wireless, put in your crypted password.

That is correct. When setting up wireless security in the router, do a wired or direct connection to the router first.

Security lock is on router how do i take it off

Your wireless network must be secured.
You can find the wireless security key from the router and get it connected.
Or you can simply disable the wireless security on the network.
For this you need to open the setup page of the router and change the wireless settings.
See How to open the setup page of the router.

Can't connect DSi with same security as comps

hello, yes i had the same problem, but i had it with many other computers, the way i solved it was going into the router settings and click the "restore default settings" then turned the router off for 15 seconds (for a fresh reboot) then when i had to set everything up again i got all my computers on the router and im able to add more without running into that same problem once again, or for a simpler solution try disconnecting the wireless on the computers and replugging them in.... that works sometimes as well

My solution was that I changed the wireless mode from "B,G and N" to just "B and G," and then it worked fine.

can you connect without the security???
if so. configure the router with minimum security. if that is good than go up.
you need to clean out the setting on the laptop first.
delete all of the network that the laptop can find. do a fresh search. click on the router you want ot connect. if you setup the WEP. it will ask for a pass key type in the key exactly as you have on the router (case senstive).

let me know if you need addtional info.

the key number will be listed in the router settings as you must have security enabled in the router, if you cannot find it then simply reset the router at the rear of the unit and start again as there will be no security key number and all the settings will be back to factory default.
