Question about Computers & Internet
I have the siemens gigaset SE587 and it will not connect to the nintendo wii that i have. it will find the access point but will not connect. i have contacted nintendo and they have said that they are having a lot of problems with this type of router but not sure what is wrong. they seem to think that the router is stopping the wii from connecting to it somehow and need to change something on the router settings but dont know what!!! contacted tiscali and they were not helpful at all!! can someone please help!!! thanx!! :) I've also been struggling with the same problem for the past 2 weeks. Ringing Tiscali technical support was not fruitful and although Nintendo's website offers support for various makes of routers, unfortunatley it offers no solution to the Siemens Gigaset SE587. Any Techy Whizzkids out there able to offer their help? Thank you
i have just solved this problem on the SE 587, hope it works for you.
1) in internet explorer type 192.168.1.1, which should bring up your router settings - then select "wireless" and then "basic wireless settings" - under "auto channel" set it to "disable" and the set "wireless channel" to "1" , then "save settings" - my pc briefly went offline and quickly came back.
2) when setting up the connection on the wii you need the code from the bottom of the router - make sure you have "caps lock" ON on the wii when you set up.
3) now everything works perfectly on the wii - you dont even need the pc on! just the router.
good luck, IAN.

What i would suggest is either using the suggested routers which are suggested for the reason of they are know to connect with little error. Other routers conduct themselfs differently and cause errors. What you might try is updating your router and drivers on your computer. This should update your router to the best know configuration and allow the smoothest opperations. If this doesn't answer your problem please post again.
Please post what you do and how you did it. I look forward to your posts.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
