I had the same problem on 99 deville. Hot air from a/c vents on driver's side and rear seats. I removed the passenger side access panel under the dash and found the problem. There is a servo that controls the air mixture with a linkage arm attached that was sticking. It's the only one visible and easily accessible as soon as you've dropped that access panel. Anyway, all I did was cycle the temperature up and down while applying pressure to the arm. It started moving back and forth eventually. So the problem was that it was just was sticking.
A few things can be wrong but generaly with electronic temp control systems the fault is either the blend door, door motor or temp sensor and caddy usually had split zones... meaning one unit of each per side as mentioned above ie; doors, motor, temp sensor. there is a way to set the climate control system into test mode, it can test itself and tell if it out of range, faulty sensors, also if you can find a friend or a person with a scan tool that can read body codes. one these is your fault or a wire issue is possible. I have 20yrs ford dealer exp.

The most likely cause of your problem is the blend doors under your dash. If they are not moving like they should it can cause this type of problem. You can look under the dash to see if there are any linkages that are disconnected. Some of these are very hard to change so you might want to take it to a repair shop unless you are very good with cars.

THIS PROBLEM OF NO HEAT IS CAUSED BY A FAILED AC/HEATER AIR TEMPERATURE CONTROL BLEND DOOR OR BY THE MOTORIZED ACTUATOR THAT MOVES THAT DOOR, THESE ARE THE ONLY PARTS THAT CAN CAUSE THIS PROBLEM, WHICH IS COMMON IN LATE MODEL CARS SINCE THE 90'S, THE REAL PROBLEM IS THAT THE DASH MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE CAR TO ACCESS THESE PARTS.

you probably have a bad blend door actuator. the car has several.
SOURCE: heat blows warm on passenger
Hi, there are 2 flaps or doors to direct heat into the passenger compartment. The one for the passenger side is stuck in the open position, so you will get heat. You may be able to loosen it by going into the vent under the dash with a long screwdriver, but it may have a broken spring etc.
You can also check the heater control valve, sounds to me like the dash control unit that opens and closes the vents may not be functioning properly....
