HP C5580 print settings

I would like to utilize third party software to print directly to a CD or DVD instead of the bundled HP software that came with the printer because the bundled software is severely limited to say the least! Can you advise a paper template (such as an Avery or Memorex) along with specific horizontal and vertical settings that would be required to accurately print from the edge to hub on a disc?

Hey! I found this in a review site (can't remember)

"If you use Nero 7 Essentials to print CD/DVD labels, make sure you print just the page for the disc, and under print setup make sure you have CD/DVD 120mm under size and CD/DVD tray from source, then under Preferences set your calibration to -0.185" horizontal, -0.182" vertical, and you'll be golden."

I hope it helps!!

I need a dic for my prints

If you want a copy of the driver CD for the HP DeskJet 2050, go to the HP software & driver support site: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=4027469 . Select your OS from the drop-down menu. Then click Next. Expand the section labeled Order Physical Media (CD/DVD/USB). Click on the link and fill out the forms. You will need to pay for shipping if you want anything other than standard shipping.

If you just need tp download the software for Deskjet, expand the section labeled Software & Drivers. Download and install the Full Featured software if you want to check the ink levels from your computer.

I hope this helps. If you had a different issue, please add a clearer comment.

(I know that the download does not include any third-party software that was on the original disc. I'm not sure if the replacement CD has that software.)

Cartridge in slot on right in not intended for the use of this printer. remove and replace

Sounds like you're not using an HP cartridge. If it's a third party cartridge, it still should work...the printer will just say (maybe) "not an HP cartridge" but give you the option of continuing anyway. Good quality third party cartridges will be seen as "HP" by the printer.

The other possibility is that you've got the wrong type of cartridge in the slot.

Hope that's helpful.

My hp photosmart c5580 won't print the correct ink color on dvds

Unless a printer is specifically designed to PRINT on CDs or DVDS, that's the problem. Usually a program called "LightScribe" is used to print on CDs or DVDs right in your DVD/CD Drive. For printers, use a Self Adhesive DVD/CD PAPER Label(s) that you can buy in the store. Inserting DVDs or CDs through a printer can really mess them up and Damage the rollers inside!

This solution is taken from the HP website.

Follow these steps to print on a CD or DVD.

  3. Click Printer Settings and then click Advanced to open the printer properties.
  4. In the properties, click the Features tab.
  5. In Paper Type , select Printable CD 120mm .
  6. In Source , select the CD/DVD tray .
  7. Save the settings and then again attempt to print on the CD or DVD.

When asking to print we get a script error message

Method 1
Remove and reinstall the printer driver.

If you are using a third-party driver provided by your printer manufacturer instead of a driver included with Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), follow the instructions provided by your printer manufacturer to remove and then reinstall your printer driver.
*Click Start, point to Settings, point to Control Panel, and then click Add/Remove Programs.
*On the Install/Uninstall tab, click the item listed for your printer (if the item is displayed in the list), and then click Add/Remove.
*Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
*Right-click the printer, and then click Delete.
*Double-click Add Printer to start the Add Printer Wizard, and then click Next.
*Follow the instructions in the Add Printer Wizard to install the printer driver.
*Repeat steps 1 through 7 to remove and reinstall all printers in your Printers folder.
NOTE: You may want to install the most current printer driver available for your printer. To obtain the latest printer drivers, contact your printer manufacturer.

For information about how to contact your printer manufacturer, click the appropriate article number in the following list to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Method 2
Extract the original Iepeers.dll file from the Windows Me CD-ROM, and then replace the Iepeers.dll file on your hard disk.

NOTE: Do not use this method if you have installed Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Internet Tools. The Iepeers.dll file included in Internet Explorer 5.5 SP1 is a later version of the file than the version that is on the Windows Me CD-ROM. To determine which version of Internet Explorer is installed on your computer, start Internet Explorer, and then click About Internet Explorer on the Help menu. If "SP1" appears in the Update Versions line, this means that Internet Explorer 5.5 SP1 and Internet Tools are installed, and you have the latest version of Iepeers.dll file for Internet Explorer 5.5.
Click Start, point to Search, and then click For Files or Folders.
In the Search for files or folders named box, type iepeers.dll.
In the Look In box, click Local Hard Drives, and then click Search Now.
In the Search Results list, right-click Iepeers.dll, and then click Rename.
Type iepeers.old, and then press ENTER.
Insert your Windows Me CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key as you insert the CD-ROM to prevent it from starting automatically.
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Extract File.
In the Specify the system file you would like to restore box, type iepeers.dll, and then click Start.
In the Restore from box, click Browse, and then browse to the x:\win9x folder (where x is your CD-ROM drive), and then click OK.
In the Save file in box, click Browse, browse to your x\Windows\System folder (where x is the drive on which Windows Me is installed), and then click OK.
Click OK to extract the file.
Click OK in response to the The file has been successfully extracted message, and then click OK to close the System Configuration Utility dialog box.
Register the Iepeers.dll file:
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type regsvr32 iepeers.dll, and then click OK.
Restart your computer.

Method 3
Specify different spool settings for the printer. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
Right-click the printer, and then click Properties.
On the Details tab, click Spool Settings.
Click Start print job so program finishes printing faster, click Start printing after last page is spooled, and then click OK.
Restart your computer.
Start Internet Explorer, and then attempt to print a Web page.
If this does not resolve the issue, repeat steps 1 through step 3, click Print directly to the printer, and then click OK.
Restart your computer

I have a HP Printer C5500 When I try printing something on the CD/DVD Directly I get a Error saying that the printer doesn't support printing directly on the CD while the Printer is meant to print on...

I'm confused.. Are you trying to print to a CD/DVD Drive? Try the print job again, and choose the C5500 as the print device.. Seems that there may be a problem with the print device set-up , and you may have to delete the printer, and reinstall it.

If the printer is designed to print a label on a CD / DVD. then you will have to use the programs provided to accomplish this, as it requires formatting parameters be sent along with the print request. I.E. You can not cut and paste directly to a CD / DVD printer..
