It is a simple matter to add an administrator account to your computer provided you are already logged in as an administrator. If you are logged in as an account created as "limited",as many guest accounts are, you do not have the authority to create an administrator account.Provided you are already an administrator and only want to add a new account follow these steps. From the start button, go to control panel, then user accounts. Click on add account, create a name, click on administrator and just follow the prompts.

I took my daughter off of administrator before i got to make myself the administrator now i cant download anything and i am restricted to certain things what do i do

the problem is that you took your daughter off from administrator without making yourself administer first. In effect there is no administrator for your computer. I went to start to control panel to user accounts to select new account type and you may be able to rectify the problem there ( Windows 7)Try that for starters and it may give you a clue as to what to do. Another way may be to go to restore in the control panel and go back to a time previous to when you tried to change the user accounts.

you might not be the computers administrator

Here are two views on how to create computer administrators and administration rights

When you log in screen will appear that time just press CTRL+ALT+DEL three times login page will change put there administrator and press enter if any password you put during installation of xp put that password do log in and then go to user accounts which is in control panel from there change the user rights

which you want to or

right click to my computer and go to manage and then users from there also you can set rights

Here we go just press this keys ctrl+Alt+Del it will bring you a new logging dialogue box. type the user name as administrator and leave the password blank.

press enter and there you go. that means you will log into your computer as local administrator. from there go to your control panel, click on user accounts, change my account type,

from the next stage choose administrator, click change account type

hope this helps

I can not edit my account information.

Hi there, I would like to clarify If you are the administrator on the computer your trying to edit your account

If you are the administrator of the computer, and If your computer is part of a network at an organization such as a school, government agency, or a business, your organization's system administrator might have disabled or even removed certain settings by using Group Policy. Group Policy is a feature of Windows that lets system administrators manage users' access to Windows features. If you suspect that Group Policy is preventing you from changing a setting that you need to access, contact your system administrator.

OR

If your computer is not part of a network, a user with administrator privileges might have modified Group Policy on your computer to remove access to the settings. In this case, contact the users who are administrators on your computer to modify the settings you'd like to change.

Can not install CD for my Mp3 player

Click on Start --> Control Panel --> User Accounts --> Change an Account (or you can look at the list of accounts on the bottom half of the window, and look for the one that says "Computer Administrator" underneath it - log in as that person/user. If NONE of them say "Computer Administrator" underneath, then administrator privilieges have been disabled and we willl have to go through some more steps - Microsoft.com can show you how to change an account from a "guest" account to a "computer administrator" account
