Toshiba m65-s9092 satellite laptop locked with bios password

I have a toshiba m65-s9092 satellite laptop that i haven't used for about a year now. When i booted it up it asked for the bios password which i thought i knew for i use the same password for all my devices but instead i got an incorrect password error. I have tried google to find a solution to resetting the bios password by way of manufactor backdoor passwords, certain key combinations during boot-up, removing the cmos battery or shorting out two jumping pins (both of which i havent tried for fear of damage) but nothing has worked. This bios password takes effect before any device boot up can be applied so software dosent seem to be the answer either. Please please help! Thank you.

Remove the battery, and the memory cover (1 screw), and the memory module(s). Under the bottom memory module, there is a white sticker (the bigger sticker)... remove that, and there is a small copper lead labeled J2 that looks like two E's mated with each other, you need to short the E's to each other for about 30 seconds with something metal. Put at least one memory module back in, and the battery, and try booting. If it still has a password, try again for a little longer, or press a little harder with the metal object to ensure you are making a connection.

The easiest way to proceed is by accessing to the Cmos battery, and removing it for one minute, this will reset the bios to factory settings.

Hi, i have an Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092 with XP installed. everything still stock inside but operating system, had vista when we got it. this laptop shuts down at random times... no booting down, just...

I realise that you have checked the fans for operation, but they could still have a build up of dust which stops them from cooling efficiently, the main fan blows air through a heatsink and you can often get quite a build up between the fan and the heatsink. If this is not the case, or clearing it doesn't work, check your event viewer for any recurring errors, instant shutdown could be faulty ram, faulty hard drive or the heat problem.
    I hope this helps

    Can't remember bois password

You could try flashing the bios, but your wiggle room is limited. You may or may not see effects on the password. I would try the default 0000, or 00000. If that fails, i would look into flashing. It is hard, and risky, but it may be your only way out. Unfortunatly i would be liable if i told you how, so i would look up a blog about it.
    Sorry i couldn't help

Toshiba screen goes blank when it is opened too far

Sounds like a problem with the ribbon for the screen being either having a loose connection or getting nipped. Pretty common on laptops because the ribbon runs along by the hinges on the base and then up to the screen.

Hopefully you will be able to access the ribbon on your model by removing the plastic bezel which lies just above the keyboard. The ribbons I have seen are about 1/2 inch wide and as I said connect on the base and the screen. The connection just pushes in. If its loose at the connection on the base then obviously push the connection fully home. If it's getting nipped then reseat it so that it does not get caught. ***NOTE*** a problem could arise if the ribbon has actually been damaged from being nipped - opening the laptop could cause it more damage and then you could lose the screen until you replace with a new ribbon. These can normally be purchased on places like Ebay and don't cost an arm and a leg.

If this helps, I'd appreciate feedback so other people can use this as a solution. Thanks

    Toshiba m65-9092 locks up

I guess the fix on this one depends on your knowledge of taking apart computers. The problem sounds like there is something loose (either not plugged in all the way, or loose wire). The other option is a crack in a circuit board. If you feel that you know that you have enough computer hardware knowlege to have a look inside, I would check out this site. I use it frequently.

On this page are 2 tutorials about your model that will help you take it apart.

If you don't feel up to it, take it to a repair shop. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, post another comment.
