Mine just quit also. I believe my unit did **** up something hard like a rock or strong stick. It made loud bad clatter, then quit. However, after removing the fan/blade, I could not find any stuck debris/item. The unit appears just dead. I'm hoping my father-in-law can lay hands on it and make it work! Any clue what the problem might be?

SOURCE: brush motor failure

Looking at the parts breakdown, the motor must be in the nozzle asm. part # 75213 and sells for about $25.

SOURCE: brushes not turning on 8920 2x Bissell

Brushes are switched on by lowering the handle which activates a micro-switch located inside the lower part of the machine. Vacuum must be running as well. The DC power for the brush motor comes from a Bridge rectifier located on the PC board located in the handle. I have drawings that might help you.

The bower motor is most likely what you are smelling.Replace the blower motor, and the blower resister next to the blower motor if,the blower motor has no speeds.

SOURCE: Toro Blower..No power. Like a blown fuse. Does it have a fuse?

I have the Toro 51591 model. Yesterday, mine did the same as yours. I opened up the case and found that a small cylinder had broken off of the switch. So it could be that your switch is the problem. I have been unable so far to find a replacement anywhere.
You should consider using your warranty.

Testimonial: "Thanks. I checked the manual first though and read that the impeller cover if not properly closed will not allow it to turn on. That worked. Thanks"

SOURCE: I have a Toro 51598 electric leaf blower. Last

These machines are considered "disposable" items and most service centers won't even repair them, saying that it is not "cost effective." I have never come across a parts list for one other than maybe the plastic housing on them (they may exist), but costwise you may be better off getting another tool unless the Toro is still under warranty.

sounds like the motor is worn out. Toro does not sell the motor separate. It is considered a throw away unit.
You will have to purchase a new one.
Sorry.
