Sure its not running on autochoke ,sounds like it to but if you have done a nice job on the engine then you may need to adjust the mixture on idle which for the inspection must be less than 2% it will idle well if this higher as its burning more fuel on idle but this is not allowed for the test ,once it leaves the test station ? This has one of them fish type carbs and havent done one for many a year but the mixture idle is on the base of the carb and they normally have a spring on the screw shank to hold them

SOURCE: 1983 Mazda RX7 lacks power rough or no idle

Sounds like carb idle air or fuel jets are clogged.. Test pressure with a gauge to be sure. Float level and drop needs to be exact.. Operation of the whole carb relies on this. Probably why you are not getting any change in your air/fuel adjustments.

SOURCE: the carburetor is not tuned

there are two things that can cause detonation, one is ignition timing too far advanced, the other is a lean fuel mixture, if you haven't altered the timing it has to be the fuel mixture, if it has just started doing this for no reason it could be a blocked fuel filter or fuel line or a blockage in the carby......hope this helps.....cheers.

Fuel delivery on carb 350 chevy marine engine

Hi!
It seems your fuel pump fails at idle speed. I would first ensure that fuel pump is well fitted, no leaks, and good diaphragm condition.

What do I do if My 1981 corvette idles at high rpm (1500) and will not back off.

you may have a vacuam hose off somewhere, else adjust the throttle plate stop on the carb where the linkage comes to rest

84 f150 carburetor out of tune

When you get a rebuilt carb you have no idea what the
applications are for

I suggest you rebuild your own,
that way you have all the settings
& experience when your done

I think the float needs to be set correctly
& maybe the pump if there is anything for that
external

You have to have some knowledge about basic
adjustments of air idle screws

Start about one turn out from seated & then use a
vacuum gauge to get the highest reading & then go in
a 1/4 turn
Can use a tach also or both, then reset the timing

I would have all 3 on motor at once

When done you set the idle screw with air cleaner on

1987 subaru carburator problems

You need to hone the accelerator pump well and adjust the throw of the pump rod as much as possible to get more fuel. Of course that is just a guess based on 100's of rebuilds i have done over the years. I have also found that Japanese carbs seldom turn out when rebuilt.

Idle Rpm Too High.

A high idle is caused by either a massive vacuum leak or a sticking idle speed control valve. I would think you have a vacuum leak, use a can of carb spray and shot around the top[ of the engine, if you hit a leak the engine will sound different, repair as needed.

I have a 1987 caprice clasic with a 305 v8 2 barrel that I have to pump the gas pettle to keep it running. could this be the carb or the fuel pump?

this problem is the carburetor which probably has dirt in it plugging up the circuits or a stuck float and when you push on the gas pedal you are supplying fuel through the accelerator circuit.it can be rebuilt or you can buy a rebuilt carburetor, but note you don`t know how long a rebuilt carb has been sitting on the shelf there by it may have dried out gaskets and accelerator pump, and be in worse shape than you own carb.

1979 cj replased carb idles tohigh

Even with a rebuilt carb you have to make the adjustments. Check the choke adjustment and set the fast idle. If choke is to tight it will be hard to start and take a long time to idle down. The fast idle sounds like it is high also.
