Question about Fuji FinePix A330 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Fujifilm A330 My camera is doing something rather strange; it's always switched on by sliding the front shutter open all the way, and it's ceased turning on when I do that. My dad and I figured out that we can get it to turn on by holding the 'on' button in the back, but it won't get out of the menu/blue 'no image' LCD display for reviewing pictures. In the past, holding the 'on' button was what changed it from picture review mode to picture taking mode, and since everything has swapped around to making the 'on' button control power, it just turns off the camera now. Any idea what caused this change, or how to fix it? x.x I've checked the user's manual and can't find any reason why it's doing this, so I'm really at a loss...

Re: Fujifilm A330

My switch was dirty... very dirty. I took my camera apart (NOT SUGGESTED FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT KNOW) and cleaned it which was NOT the easiest job. I would take it in to get it serviced if youw ant to play it safe. Take it apart only if you expect to never get it working again. You may not have a camera anymore BUT you will learn a thing or two. Who knows, you may just fix it as well. DO NOT POUR ALCOHOL INTO THE CAMERA. It can leave a residue on the inside of the lens.

Can't insert 8GB fujifilm card into Fujifilm fine pix A330

The A330 uses xD Picture Cards, which top out at 2GB. Your 8GB card is some other type (most likely SDHC) which will not work in the A330.

I just got the fujifilm instant mini 7 and all the pictures are coming out black, is there something wrong with it, or am I just doing something wrong?

Check the ISO setting and that the lens shutter is actually opening when you take a pic. Black is underexposed and often relates to the wrong ISO setting ( film speed) I know its digital but ISO works like the old ASA and sets the shutter speed in relation to the amount of light.

Is the firmware for fuji finepix A607 the same

Heres the support site for that camera - theres no firmware listed I would not use the A330 firmware although considered identical - Its NOT it is identical to the A330, except for the fact that it uses a Super CCD sensor instead of the standard / conventional sensor in the A330...
why do you want to update the firmware ?

How do I initialize a new xD 2GB memory card for my A330 Fuji FinePix camera?

Your A330 is not compatible with the XD cards that start with an "H" or a "M" before the XD designation, unless you perform a firmware upgrade. You can do it yourself using this link from Fuji Canada.

Wierd pictures

This is caused by a shutter that is stuck open. Normally the shutter closes right at the moment that you snap the picture and allows the image sensor to record what it saw at that moment. When the shutter does not close as intended the image sensor cannot properly record the image. This is why here are the lines across your images. The shutter can stick either due to an impact knocking the delicate blades off their tracks, or due to dust or moisture contamination sticking them open or closed. If gently tapping does not free them; the camera will require professional repair. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
