When I try to compile and burn a dvd, I get an error message telling me the disk type does not match the project type - another window then pops up and tells me to insert valid media. I have used this program before and it worked fine. I have uninstalled it then reinstalled it. I have tried to repair it-it just reinstalled it again. I have converted my video clips from MPEG to WMV format and still didn't work. I installed an Express Burn program and it hangs up after it begins burning - about one-third of the way. I don't know what to do - help!

Re: roxio dvd disk type doesn't match project type
Check the following parameters
- Type of disk--> it must be a DVD RW disk (Read and write), if the media is only DVD R, you can't burn it
- Your DVD driver--> Check if it accepts DVD RW(-) or DVD RW(+) or both. With this information, check if the media matches the driver capability
- Roxio settings--> In the Main Menu select--> Disc--> Disk information--> confirm that the right driver is selected (drive D or E or the letter your computer uses for the DVD driver)
- If you need clarification, ask it in the comment box above.
- Better answers use proper spelling and grammar.
- Provide details, support with references or personal experience.

Generally, defragmenting your hard disk will resolve this issue. To defragment your computer:
Go to Start--> Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Disk Defragmenter.
When the Disk Defragmenter window opens, choose Defragment.
If defragmentation doesn't resolve the issue, burn your project as a data file, and then burn your project as a data disc using Disc Copier or Creator Classic. To create a disc image/data file:
After clicking the Burn button, the Burn Project window opens.
You have two data burning options:
Image file - this option will save your project as an .ISO file. To burn this file you will need to use the Burn Image option in Creator's Copy section.
Folder Set - burning a folder set will create a Video_TS folder that you can burn using Creator Classic. Burning a folder set to DVD will create a fully functional DVD. Do NOT rename the Video_TS folder other wise it will not play! Simply place it in a folder that is the name of your project if you need to keep track.
Here You can find a free mpeg converter for any type of files. What kind of file do You have? If it's .avi, probably Roxio creator cannot burn it because it is too big, and if You nave the menus on Your future DVD, I'm sure the reason is the size. On Mac it's easy. With toast titanium, You can select an option fit-to-DVD, and the video fits on standard DVD. Probably, the default compression options in Roxio aren´t sufficient. Try to search in advanced options compression level, or, You can convert with the MPEG Streamclip the video to mpeg video, by selecting a different level of compression, and then You can offer this file to Roxio. Try this. If it not helps, drop me a message.
The problem with creator 2009 has been fixed by the roxio people.
Instead of burning directly to the DVD disk as roxio software states,
one needs to first save this to be AVCHD movie as a file and then burn directly from the file. This works OK, but as stated this is different
from what the software claims. I'm happy. Thanks
