The router should have a tiny little reset button that is hidden under the machine or on the back plate. You will need a pin or paper clip in order to press down the reset button, press in the reset button for 12 seconds and release. When the router is turned back on, i.e. when power is restored, the router will reset
If this fails to help, then goto the next option.unplug it from the power source, hope this helps

I have a netgear router, which needs booting but i am away from home and cannot do this, is there a way that it can be rebooted.

1.Log in to the modem router at its default LAN address of with its default
User Name of admin, default password of password, or using whatever User Name,
Password and LAN address you have changed and chosen for the modem router.
2. The ADSL Modem Wireless Router has a diagnostics feature. You can use the diagnostics menu to Reboot the modem router.
3.From the Main Menu of the browser interface, under the Maintenance heading, select the Modem
Router Diagnostics heading to display the menu shown.
4. The modem router will then reboot automatically
NetGear DG834G Manual You may refer to the Router's Manual Page 5-15

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.
Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Router channel change

1. Type or in the address field of an Internet browser.
2. Enter admin for the user name and password for the password, both in lower case letters.
3. Click OK. You will be logged in to your router’s main menu.
Select Wireless Settings from the main menu to display the Wireless Settings screen:
On the wireless settings page you will see a channel section that can be changed.
After you change it, make sure to click "apply" & "ok" then reboot the router.

Can I extend my internet range with a netgear & a Belkin router

DG834G is a modem/router, it is not a range extender that could extend the range of the wireless signal from the Belkin router.

Cannot get password authorisation for netgear router

The default username and password for the Netgear DG834G router is:

username: admin
password: password

If that does not work (i.e., the default password has been changed), then the only way for you to log into the router is to restore the router back to its default factory settings. Then you will be able to use the default username and password above.

To restore the router's factory default settings, you must use the Default Reset button on the rear panel of the router.
1. Press and hold the Default Reset button until the Test LED turns on (about 10 seconds).
2. Release the Default Reset button and wait for the router to reboot.
