Black box I have a 32" Olevia and a black box keeps randomly appearing in the center of the screen. Sometimes letters appear in the box. I don't know how to get rid of it. If I shut off the satellite box and turn it back on, it will disappear for a few minutes and then reappear. Help. Pat

I have the black box that appears from time to time as well. Mine also has writing that appears in it. I usually change the channel and turn the tv off and back on and it fixes the problem until it turns up again.

On certain channels, mostly Nickelodeon (not sure why) sometimes there will appear a black line with colored numbers or letters inside. Looks like some other kind of language to me. Spot appears on center...

Sounds like you have your closed captioning turned on. The TV remote may have a CC button on it, if not it will be in the TV menu. Try turning this to OFF. What you are describing may be the TEXT 1, 2, 3, or 4 function of this feature.

Vizio 42" LCD - Random appearance of small black rectangles

There is a processing fault that is starting to occure. What you are seeing is a type of aliasing. This can be in the main signal processing or in one of the control areas.

The set will require service. The service rep will test the set by using board substitution. There are typicaly a number of areas in the TV set that can cause this type of fault. Once the defective board is located the fault will be easy to service with a simple board swap and some adjustments.

If the set is out of warranty, it may be expensive to service. With many of the no-name brands, spare parts can be difficult or impossible to have.

It sounds like the "Text" mode of closed captioning has been turned on. If you look towards the top-right of your remote you should see the "CC" button. Push that and set the option to "Off"

This set has had a problem with the LVDS cable from the Main PCB to the panel. The wires are delicate and the connection is not that great. Sometimes unplugging and reseating the cable does clear intermitent problems like yours up. Good Luck
