Samsung 226BW Monitor

This morning the monitor will not power up. It is 9 months old and no problems until now. It doesn't make a sound. Last night I powered down the system and this morning I booted up the computer and when I pressed the on button on the monitor nothing happened.

same here. my monitor wont turn on until i unplug and replug the cable but after a couple of days the monitor wont even turn on. there is no light on the power button. my monitor is only 12 months old. if this happens to a lot of samsung monitors I'm not going to buy another samsung ever again.

I also have the same problem. 1 Day last week, it was working fine and then I usually power off my computer. The next morning I go to boot it up, the monitor power button blinks like its on standby or something. After about 3-5 minutes of waiting, it finally blinks a few times and then another minute later, its fine. Its been doing this for the last week! I don't have another PC, but I tried it with my Xbox 360 (which I normally use it to play it on) doesn't work either. Also tried unpluging the cable cords, switching them, updated my video card and changing my power bars, but still no luck. It seems like the monitor takes a while to warm up or something so every morning, I try something new to fix it and its getting annoying. I haven't tried unplugging the video card yet, but will do that next.

Anyway, I've contact samsung tech support over email. Here's what they said "
We suggest that you test the monitor with another PC, just in case the
problem lies with your video card or other hardware/software on your existing
    PC.

Otherwise, if you require further assistance, please call our Technical
    Support line at 1-800-SAMSUNG (726-7864)."

    Anybody have any solutions???

Same problem here with a 1-year old Samsung 226BW. Blinking blue ring around the power switch but no response from Source, Menu or any other buttons. Does not matter whether the video (DVI) cable is connected to PC or if PC is on or off. Problem is intermittent now but getting worse. Called Samsung tech support and they are sending a replacement under the 3-year warranty.

What about the blue circle LED on the power button ? still blinking or not ?
For the record I've had some problems with this screen too, sometime I had to unplug and replug my Video Card (and the DVI Cable) and everything was back to normal

Hope it helped you

I have a Samsung monitor, model #953BW. I put the computer to sleep last night and this morning the monitor will not display anything. It is the monitor, not the computer, as another monitor works on that...

At this point you need to open up the monitor and inspect the inside.
Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG and other monitors to get some ideas what goes wrong: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

My 3 yr old Samsung 226bw strobes when switched on

colinfaver, I think a visit to YOUTUBE and conduct a search for longer vid clips of "lcd monitor disassembly" and "lcd monitor repair" for monitors that suffer from the "black screen of death" syndrome and what internal electronic components fail and how to visually locate them on a "switch-mode-power-supply" and possibly replace them with new good ones and with a little luck end up with a working monitor. Your 226BW is SICK, and will probably do same if connected to a different PC with same ambient room temperature. Yes, problem with SMPS/CCFL inverter supply getting a bit tired!! If this was of help to you, please rate on fixya, and do return comment. 12fixlouie Bye for now.

Samsung 226bw visible flickers just after it is turned on

You may have a faulty inverter or loose power inverter connection. OR
You may have a defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Colored vertical lines on monitor

Have you unplugged the power cord to the LCD? Let it sit for a minute, then try it. ALWAYS buy a UPS and plug any computer devices into it. Doesn't have to be big, a $50 unit will protect it from dangerous voltage surges.

Samsung 226BW 22" LCD wont turn on and flickers a blue light

Hello cstafford35,

Your monitor has a very common problem. The internal power supply has blown a part called a capacitor. If you are comfortable working with electronics and with soldering I can talk you thru the diag/repair. If you are not ready to tackle that we also offer a repair service, about $30 plus shipping for your model. Let me know if you want to try fixing it yourself and we can go from there. The repair will require opening the monitor case and replacing from 2 - 5 parts. You can call me at 318-447-9040 if you have questions.
