My wd 500gb makes a buzzing noise

Either you broke the connector or crashed the head. You could crack the case open, buy a new empty enclosure and see if the drive will work in it. Otherwise if the head is crashed, replace the drive.

My passport 500gb external just stopped working. It froze up so I removed it and plugged it back in. When I plugged it back into my computer it starts spinning but then makes a click sound and stops.

The clicking sound is caused by the spindle inside the hardrive, because it was not removed properly. Just connect you external hardrive to your computer, if it makes the clicking sound again dont remove it yet, just restart your computer properly. In that way all the devices connected to the computer will be refreshed and properly shut down. If it is not detected still, unplug the haardrive then try another USB port. Recommended ports are at the back of the CPU if your using a desktop. These USB ports have higher voltage output that can power up all external hardrives properly.

HELP! My WD 500Gb hit the floor :( was still working but today the computer doesnt recognize the drive when you do a search! Tried a differant computer same problem. It makes a sound like its reading back...

The hard drive could be damaged but the USB adapter case electronics is OK. Therefore the computer can see the USB device (adapter case) but not the hard drive. If the hard drive makes a clicking noise or you cannot hear the hard drive spin, then the hard drive is definitely faulty.

There is very little chance you can recover data from a faulty hard drive.
There are companies that can recover data from faulty hard drives but it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services.

No lights just ticking sounds

Your drive has likely "crashed". Wait an hour, then try to power it up again. If that fails, it is most likely a terminal failure.

My WESTERN DIGITAL EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE 500 GB is not getting recognized in 'MY COMPUTER". I want the data to be recovered. Please Help

Does you drive make any sounds like these? If yes you have a mechanical problem and you should get a specialist to work on it.
If not - try to remove the drive from the enclosure and connect it directly to the computer to recover your files.

Does it make any sounds? Is it spinning up at all?
Try to remove the drive from the enclosure and connect it directly to your PC.

Death of a drive

That sounds like a head crash. You should take to a service center and get it fixed and/or inspected.
