SOURCE: I had just recieved a brand new DM6. Upon setup

First thing to look at is the plug you are using a TRS, that is has three connections for the SNARE drum. If you partially put a TRS cable into the jack, the Tip will touch the Ring contact instead of the Tip contact. Now notice that the SNARE has a TRS plug while the kick has only a TS.plug. Could these be mis-labeled? The SNARE is the TRS and the kick is only a two conductor. If these are correct in your unit, then the jack in the kick drum itself must be broken and further that type of failure is really hard to visualize as it would require the tip contact of the jack to be drastically bent so that the plug has to be partially out to work.
So... first verify that the KICK cable has a two wire plug that is DIFFERENT from the three wire plug used on the SNARE (the snare has two pickups, one each for the head and rimshot) Should they possibly either mis-marked the cable plugs OR put the wrong plug on the Kick cable this would be the problem.

Hi

Make sure to get any available drivers for the kit, because it's USB, it may not be recognized until you have appropriate drivers or upgraded software.

Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion.

SOURCE: Alesis DM6 electronic drum kit module sound

It appears that you have to select a "Kit" of drums when using the external triggers. It appears that the volume level for the kit and that for each voice MAY all have to be set, especially after new firmware download. Read manual about KIT volume level and selecting voice and volume level for those. Manual is NOT very clear about these things and you have to try them as this is where the probllem is.

Hi-hat is triggring sound while in the closed position. and splash can't be produced

Check the following on a VH-11 HiHat.... both cables connected correctly, top playing surface is clear of the inner ring on the lower sensor when in the fully up position, power the module OFF, keep sticks & foot well clear of the HiHat then power ON, finally check the calibration settings (I assume the 15 has that as my TD12 does) If still nogo check on the VDrums forum website....

Where does hihat control cord go

The hi-hat trigger goes into trigger #1. Using a footswitch will change the hi-hat trigger sound to a closed hi-hat. On page 8 of the user manual is the list of triggers and their assignments. Note that some new triggers from newer drumsets use TRS cables because they have two sensors within the drum head... Often the new ones have a rim shot snare trigger as well as a trigger for the mesh head. These newer different brand triggers would require special cables to be made to attempt to use them with the DM5. The DM5 is older technology now but is still useful.

Have the alesis dm6 there is no out put sound. monitor appears to be working. hooked to small amp or headphones. just fuzz. please help. little guys christmas present!!!

Two things:

Check that cables are seated, especially the one at the main module.

Second, look for a setting for "Local Control" in your user's manual; That setting should be "On" to accept the triggers from the pads.

In some pictures for the Yamaha DTXpress IV Special, the hit-hat has this trigger system under it and other pictures don't.What is it?

I see pictures that show an extra device beneath the Hi-Hat and the ads mention a "stereo hi-hat controller"... on the RHH130 there is a clutch to improve the feel of the Hi Hat... I think this is what you see in some ads.

Cut and paste:

This hi-hat pad design attaches to a standard hi-hat stand. Inside of the pad is a sensor system and built-in hi-hat clutch that feels, realistic when pressed. The RHH130 also features a dual zone design consisting of pad and edge sections that offer greater dynamic realism. The pad can also produce a foot splash.
