The LCD panel can not be fixed, only replaced. Without the model number, I can not give you a cost, but expect the cost to exceed 1/2 of the original purchase price. Post hte model number and I'll get you the part number and cost.

The fix for this is here somewhere, as I had the same problem last January and the solution was posted here in March last year. I'll try to find it and post the link to it for you, later.

Sony projection tv with dual tuners; only one tuner appears to be working now.

To verify that the tuner is the problem, move the cable from the second to the first. If you don't get a signal, the tuner is bad. The main tuner is part number 859843000 and is available for $47.38 from tritronicsinc.com

Sony 51" rear project tv

Click here to find information on how to fix your TV. Make sure that you turn the screen control slightly counterclockwise until you see the lines disappear.
I would suggest to put a mark where the original position is, just in case you have to go back to the default position.
Good Luck.

Black box showing up while viewing DVDs

This sound like a problem with the Closed Caption, on many sets if the C.C. is set to text a black box apears, and since it only happens on DVD you might look at the DVD menu and see if it has this Text featcher in the Closed Caption menu and turn it off

Broken screen

you would have to call Hitachi for a price quote on the two screens needing replacement and the labor cost (inhome) which would be about 180,00. I would guess that thew total amount should be approx 350.00. Call Hitachi for an exact figure.
