Thank you for trying, but this has not solved the problem! Still got a dim screen.

Hi there again, I was using the wrong keys - I was pressing the 'up' arrow key, but then noticed that on my keyboard, the arrows are marked with symbols so I pressed the 'fn' key as you said and simultaniously pressed the bottom right hand arrow key (with a blank sun symbol). Yippee!!! It worked!!!

One thing that I can suggest to you that may save you money is to try a external monitor rather than repairing it at the moment.

Aspire 5610 brightness

The Screens Power Inverter or The Screens LCD (ccfl) Bulb Has Blown... One of the 2... The Power Inverter is the small Circuit Board Located Just Below the Screen (inside the Screen Casing), You can replace it by ordering an exact Aspire 5610 inverter from Ebay.

Though it can also be a blown bulb, which is also replaceable if you know how or have a close by laptop repair shop that can do it for you.

It will either be one or the other, not both...

I just had my Emachines D520 laptop display replaced because it was cracked. The new display is too bright, and the Fn keys that are supposed to control brightness don't work properly. When I use these...

Try going to control panel, then device manager, and try right clicking and updating all drivers that have to do with graphics or your screen. If this doesn't do the trick then try finding the display drivers manually.

Hitachi 50V710 The picture is dim, then the bulb went out. I replaced the bulb. all works but the picture is still dim. You can barely see the screen durring the day. And can only use it in a dark room...

I've seen this in two scenarios.

First: The housing of the bulb is dirty (the lens the bulb lights onto) and the internal screen is dirty also.

The second: The bulb is wired reversely of the proper way to wire it. This will light the bulb, but will not light as bright as when it is wired correctly!

Thank you and please rate!

On your model, it looks like it is Fn + Left Arrow. Hold down the Fn key and them press the left arrow a few times to your desired brightness.

Gateway screen flashes bright and dim

Usually the connection is one wire down the middle and their is another wire wrapped around it.

You can try to do a soldering job with heat shrink material around it, but if you don't know the procedure, it can damage the laptop.

Look at the charger and the amperage it needs as well as the voltage. You can actually just buy a new one as little as 80 dollars.

Acer Aspire 5610. LCD very dim all of a sudden.

That sounds just like an inverter problems. There is a slim chance the bulb could be a problem, but I would replace the inverter. It is not too hard to do, no soldering involved.

You have to remove the screw covers on the frame of the LCD frame, and then carefully pop off the frame. The inverter should be on the bottom center of the screen.

Be careful, there is a high voltage in that little baby. Just get the full numbers, and do a search on the internet and buy yourself a new inverter to replace the old one.
