This is a convergence problem and is usually either bad connections at the convergence ICs or defective ICs. If you can solder, you can fix this yourself. Locate the convergence ICs (large black Ics attached to a heat sink and marked STKxxx). Resolder the pins first. If that fails to resolve the problem replace the ICs.

Ws55809...curve at top and bottom of screen

You should have some adjustment for Kine bias and pincushioning. Look for these in settings and readjust the screen

My mitsubishi ws 55807 turns on alright but the blue, green and red color are on top of each other and makes every image look triple. This tv was a gift from a friend and we moved it a lot to take it...

You have a convergence problem, if it happened after you moved it around then its either broken solder joints around the convergence modules(stk392-110) or it is a physical problem.
You could take the front screen off and see if the mirror inside has shifted. Also take the front and rear covers and look inside for anything that might have moved or cracks near components mounted on heathsinks. hope this will help. Good luck

I have a Mitsubishi projection T.V that turns off after I turn it on. Before this started happening the edges of the screen would look bowed like 3-D. Can you help to tell what is wrong and how to fix it?

Projection sets have two very common problems outlined below.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. The TV can also shut down when the convergence starts to fail.

Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith, RCA and others.

You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from TV Repair Kits using the link at the end of this article.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped or bowed
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Color is not good around outer edges of picture

When the colors are off around the edges on a regular picture tube TV, it usually means that the degaussing thermistor's solder joints have cracked loose. Another possible cause is that a strong magnet, such as in a stereo speaker, was brought very close to the picture tube and has magnetized the tube. Resoldering the solder joints on the degaussing thermistor and demagnetizing the picture tube should put the color back to normal.

Mitsu 55'' screen

The convergence ICs probably have a cracked solder joint on the foil side of the circuit board. Re-flowing the the solder would help. I will always replace the convergence ICs when doing this job. The labor remains the same and you will have to pay a few extra bucks for the parts. To fix this yourself, you will need to be able to identify the two convergence ICs (STK392-570), have a basic knowledge of electronics and be able to use a soldering iron.

Tv has lost two outer sides of vision despite changing picture mode

That's either a high voltage problem, or a deflection problem. WARNING, CRT Based Televisions have potently life threatening voltages inside them, and should be serviced by trained personnel only. With that out of the way. According to http://www.repairhelper.com It's a capacitor failure Fault - Width and E/W correction fault Remedy - Replace R626 and C630 I don't have a manual so I can't tell you for sure what the resistor and capacitor do, or where they are located.
