I don't really know but when i google some said about $700, $1000, my suggestion ask first, if above $500, just refuse it, my budget for repair it about $300 if i were you. because $700, you can buy new laptop.

2 THINGS,one it could be the lcd cable has come loose behind the lid,
or the inverter is faulty.if your happy to take lid off an reseat the cable.
two.the screen cable maybe loose at the motherboard end.unplug power supply,remove battery,and unscrew keyboard,pull off cable an reseat the lcd cable.
One trick that might work is to use your finger nail or a pop sickle stick to massage the screen in the area of the dead pixel. Has worked about 1/2 the times that I have tried it. Hope this helps! Ron
if this line is there during boot up then it is a monitor problem usually. but if it is not then it is a problem with your windows files. you could try reinstalling your windows from the disks you were given with it? otherwise i will look into it. email me if you need more help. firstname.lastname@example.org
