If you connect any USB device to a pc, it will be recognised only if there are drivers previously installed for the device. If there is a driver disc with the microscope, install this first or whatever the instructions; if any tell you. Unknown usb device means it has found your device(in this case your microscope), but it doesn't yet know what it is.

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Try to do a Windows 'Add Hardware" operation to get Win7 Plug-n-play to "recognize" the modem.
Under WinXp, it would be:

START > Control Panel > Add Hardware

Under Win7, it may (or may not) be similar).

Is the USB showing yellow mark on Device Manager entries. When you connect any device to USB does it show any device??

If not, then it might be the USB chips failure on your MoBo and need to replace.

Otherwise, go to Intel support site and download all the updated drivers for your MoBo.

To make a long story short, it turned out the be the USB cable. When I tried a different one, everything worked correctly. Hope this helps.
