Dell deminsion 3000

I got a virus in the middle of switching antivirus programs. well the virus was a antivirus program not the one i was replacing the old one with. i went thru the steps of repair with the windows reinstall disks. when i get to the point of it rebooting in 15 sec. and it does reboot i let it go and i didnt hit F1 to do it from the cd rom and it comes up with this on a blue screen... stop: c000021a {fatal system error}
the windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x0000135 (0x00000000 0x00000000). the system has been shut down.
where do i go from here? what is wrong with my computer that it wont let me repair? also after its restarted it says...Alert! Os install mode enabled. the amount of available memory limited to 256MB. strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the system setup utility. if that helps at all? and i have to hit F1. i know im about mentally drained trying to figure this out.. so any help would be grateful beyond belief.. thanks linda

also when i run the OPERATING SYSTEM cd i can get to the point where i can install xp again but it wont load all the files on it. i have to keep hitting ESC for i would guess 25-30 files i know this is not normal. so is there somewhere i can go to burn another OPERATING SYSTEM cd? because if i try to repair it it then asks for the ADMIN PASSWORD this was my mothers computer and she passed away earlier this year and i asked my sister if she knew it and she was like heck no! ive been using this computer for the past 3yrs and never once did it ask for ADMIN PASSWORD... but what i wondered was if the virus that i got on the computer between antivirus is what is causing this? and it is the ADMIN PASSWORD that is a hoax and thats why i cant get to REPAIR it? is that possible? also im not smart with computers so any help is grateful such as websites or spicific things to do:) thanks walter you are wonderful!!! linda

It sounds like your Windows repair procedure did not work properly. This link from Microsoft explains in detail: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;156669
The easiest solution would be to perform a fresh Windows installation.

Their are virus in my computer how do i remove

One good free tool you can try using is MALWAREBYTES' malware remover.

You can read about that software, check out other user reviews and download it free from WWW.CNET.COM in their free download section.

Here is the direct link to the download page:

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol;1

Just click on the DOWNLOAD NOW (7.38MB) button when you get there and then follow the onscreen instructions to download, install, and run the program.

After cleaning out your system with Mawarebytes', make sure your AntiVirus program is installed and running properly, and is kept up to date.

If you do not have an antivirus program currently installed on your computer, then try the following free program from CNET:

http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition-2011/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?tag=mncol;1

Good luck.

Click "start", then "control panel". Find and right click on "Toolbar and Start menu", and open. In the window you want check marks next to "lock toolbar", "keep the taskbar on top of other windows",and, "show quick launch" then click apply, then ok. Now click on the "start menu" tab and make sure there is a dot in the circle next to start menu, click apply, then ok.Now click on the "toolbars" tab and make sure there are check marks next to "desktop" and "start menu", click apply, then ok. Exit that and restart. Your icons shold work but if for some reason they don't, you shpuld be able to click "start" and find an Internet Expolrer icon in you box. You can also accsess your programs by clicking on start, click on "all programs", scroll to the program you want, then double or right click on to open.

These are typically antivirus-viruses and are become MUCH more frequent lately. Best thing you can do to be sure is visit the two sites below and download the free versiosn of the programs, then update/run both and reboot if necessary. This should clear up your problem.

I have an unknown trojan virus thats keeps poping up trying to get me to installed anitspyware how do i get rid of it

  1. AntiVirus - AVG Free Edition
  2. AntiSpware - Spyware Blaster
  3. AntiAdware - Ad-Aware
I recommend using all three of these programs, by doing so you have all your bases covered. AVG Free edition is an awesome program, it updates daily so you can catch even the newest viruses. Best of all it's free! Spyware Blaster is another great program, I've found that this will pick up a lot of things other programs may miss, again it's a free program. Ad-Aware is another great program, this program will also clear out any tracking cookies you may have acquired over time. I use all three of these personally and install them on every computer I build or service.
  • Where do I get these great free programs.
If you haven't visited CNET's http://www.download.com already you are missing out on tons of great free programs, they have everything from games demo's to music editing software, screen savers, and of course antivirus, antispyware, and antiadware programs. This site is updated frequently and includes many reviews on their content. u could simply go to this page and use the search box to find the above mentioned programs, but I'll make it easy for you, follow the below links.

For AVG anti virus-http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?tag=pop.software
For Spyware Blaster-http://www.download.com/SpywareBlaster/3000-8022_4-10196637.html?tag=lst-2
For AdAware-http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2007/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?tag=pop.software
