You mentioned that you wanted to remove unwanted programs.

If you are running Windows XP you can go to start then Control Panel then Add/REmove programs
If you are on windows vista you can go to control panel then program management

Please provide me more information on your computer if you find the instructions incorrect.

How to compress hard drive and clear memory on a inspiron 1520 laptop

Some of your terminology might be off. I might guess that your Dell 1520 laptop is approaching 7 years old and runs Windows Vista. Your can run Disk Cleanup (found under All Programs > Accessories > System Tools). You likely have many programs running in the background when your startup your computer. You will need to go to the Control Panel > Programs and Features; then removed any unwanted programs. If you are really out of space on your hard drive, this steps will help a bit, but there will be only so much you can do at this stage.

Auto removal of any program or file downloaded online by my pc and inability to remove previously installed program on my nec laptop

If you have trouble removing a program - click on control Panel - Add Remove Program and then click to highlight the program you want to delete then click Remove and follow the prompts.

If this does not work then you can Restore to a date prior to installing the unwanted program. To do this click on Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore - Restore My computer to an earilier date - Next and select a date prior to the installation of the unwanted program.

My dell inspiron mini 10 notebook using window 7 pro..why it always hang when i opened many application..

The Dell mini computer runs on a Intel Atom processor and has just 1GB of RAM on it.. So the computer is designed only for internet surfing and launching small applications.. Thats the reason it is called as a netbook.. It comes with win starter edition... It is not highly recommended running a win 7 pro on this machine.. It can be really slow on this Operating system... Thats the reason your computer is slow.. Try to run inbuilt cleaning like disk clean up to see if there is any iimprovements in speed.. Else switch the Operating system to win XP or Win 7 Starter

Computer, PC, running sooooooooooooooo slow- what can I do? Dell Inspiron 1520

Hello pkentx3,

First, remove unused and/or unwanted programs. Then consider doing the following three procedures that can improve overall computer performance:

[1]. Remove excess/unwanted files on the hard drive

[2]. Run Disk Defrag on the hard Drive
•Click Start (lower left-hand corner of screen)
•Click All Programs
•Click Accessories
•Click System Tools
•Click Disk Defragmenter

[3]. Add more computer memory (RAM)

Also, there are many registry cleaning and repair utilities which might be worth reviewing.

If this solution is helpful please click a thumbs-up rating below.

Have a great day,

OK here is another one of ya...my Dell XPS computer is so super slow...I just got it last May and it just runs so slow when I bring it out of hybernation. Any ideas on how to make it faster?

Reduce the contents of the hard disk.

1. delete unwanted files.

2. remove unused programs.

3. uninstall unused programs.

That should fix the bug.

Good luck.

Does this error appear on startup? Or While launching a particular program.

Try going to Add/Rremove programs under control panel.
On the left pane - click on Add/remove windows components.

Try removing any unused/unwanted utility form that list.
Restart the computer, and check if you still get the error.
