Sound Card problem

I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4637, that is currently operating on Windows XP after I removed Windows Vista. The problem is that after formatting my laptop, all the drivers I downloaded worked well except a sound card driver that I have been totally unable to get up to this point. Please advice me on what to do or where to get a suitable driver to fix this problem. My email address is layieraz@yahoo.com. Thank you.

My toshiba satellite needs a restore disk and operating system vista

As far as I know, Toshiba laptop does not have a reinstallation partition in their laptop, so you need to use Windows media (DVD disk). If you don't have a specific Toshiba DVD (your laptop comes with this DVD), then you can use a generic Windows media, and later you need to download the drivers from Toshiba's website.
If you don't have the Windows media, then you need to buy it form Toshiba, Microsoft, eBay or this guy:

My toshiba cannot boot through USB. it dispalays "windows missing" yet the flash disk has got a windows xp setup

Hi,

Your flash drive only has the setup program not the actual OS as it would be on your hard drive.

The fact that it won't boot through your USB is because there is no OS on your laptop with the required drivers for your USB and other hardware, for that.

You need to have OS installed on your hard drive to be able to run all the peripheral hardware, else nothing happens.

Please install the apropriate Operating System (OS) on your hard drive, and voila!!! magic happens after that.

Cheers, Peter

Cmd command on command prompt cannot enter a file. instead it dispalys "windows version [6.1.7600]"

Hi,

You are trying to downgrade the OS, and with MS Windows you can't unless you wipe your hard disk of all that's on it including the current OS.

Upgrading is possible, but back-peddling, is basically impossible.

Windows 7 is two versions newer than XP, or whatever OS is currently running on your Laptop.

If you wish to install Win XP, then you'l need the full installation XP disc, not the upgrade disk. I'm Not sure, but I think most PC repair shops can do this for you at little cost, XP is still very popular and is still in use by millions around the world, so give that a try.

I hope I have given you some great advice.

Cheers,
Peter

VGA driver for toshiba A135-S4527

Toshiba does not provide XP drivers for this laptop. Installing all the updates from the Windows Update site did a lot of the drivers for me. HOWEVER, Windows Update will misdiagnose the display adapter. It will try to install a driver for the Intel 945GM but it must be some generic 945GM driver, because it will not give you full functionality (e.g., multiple display outputs, etc). Use the method I describe below to get the correct 945GM driver for this display adapter.

=====================================================
Hardware and drivers needed to run Win XP Pro on Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527
==============================================================
Run "infinst_autol.exe". This is an Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility (now called Intel Chipset Device Software I think). It will identify and load the proper driver files (.inf) for various things. I did this at the end last time, but if done near the beginning, it might take care of things like display adapter, etc. Check Intel's site for the most updated one. Go to http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/inf/

Display adapter is Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family
Driver was named win2k_xp14182.exe. I downloaded it initially from
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/deta...1&dwnldid=9683
&agr=n&lang=eng&prdmap=2301

Mouse is Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad
Driver file was called XP_2K.8.3.4.zip. Can be downloaded from the Synaptics website.

Wireless adapter is Atheros AR5006EG
Driver can be gotten from Windows Update (or maybe the Win Vista CD too)

Ethernet adapter is Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
Driver can be gotten from Windows Update (or maybe the Win Vista CD too)

Modem is Toshiba Software modem
Driver can be gotten from Win Vista CD.

During XP installation, drivers were automatically loaded for:
- multimedia card reader
- firewire port (IEEE 1394)
- DVD/CD drive

I hope this gets your laptop up and running.

Please rate my solution,

Eric
