Go to Start>Run then type 'http://192.168.1.1', a logon screen appears, use 'linksys' as user name and 'admin' as the password and a router configuration control panel appears. Use DHCP for cable broadband, PPPoE for DSL or STATIC for a known IP address. Steve Medley

"Using the Wireless Connection By default, the SpeedStream® Gateway is configured to work seamlessly with other SpeedStream® wireless products. The default wireless interface settings are: SSID: SpeedStream Channel: 11 Mismatched wireless settings will prevent successful wireless network connections between devices, so you may need to reconfigure some wireless settings to ensure that all settings match between wireless devices if you are: a) Using another manufacturer’s wireless products b) Adding the SpeedStream® Gateway to an existing wireless network The Setup Wizard will walk you through setting up wireless settings."
Try to do a complete power cycle on your devices. Turn off router, turn off modem, turn off computer. Wait for 30 seconds then turn on modem first, wait for all the lights to stop blinking then turn on router the reboot computer. Hope that helps
Yes, I have pretty much the same setup at home. Wired desktop and wireless laptop. On the back of your wireless router, there should be 4 or 5 wired connections which you can use. You will only have to use the setup disk on one computer. Basically, the setup disk is for the router, not the computers, it simply guides you through the router configuration process. You can also do this manually, the manual for the router will give those instructions as well.
log into the firmware by the following steps
1 open browser and type 192.168.2.1
2 goto advanced
3 user name and password should be admin and admin
4 click on home networking modem
5 click on reboot
6 click on reset to factory defaults
7 click reboot
once rebooted repeat step 1 this time it will ask about setting it up make sure to select router only configuration
reboot modem and setup wireless cinfiguration
