GE JKP45 double wall oven shuts off

Oven shuts off at higher temps.Panel goes dark, clock goes out, elements stop heating. Will stay on at around 200 degrees for hours on end. Turn it up over that, after a period of time it will shut off. Bottom seems to be more tolerant especially if top oven is opened for ventilation. Oddly enough my wife slapped the control panel and it came back on. Might have been coincedence though. Self cleaning function does the same, it gets to about 375-400 and shuts off. 20 minutes later after the oven cools down it comes back on. Any help??

Several months ago, my lower GE JKP45 oven started making funny noises and stopped working at the same time. The same thing happened to my top oven recently. I can still hear the funny noises unless I leave the door open. And if I close the door then the noise starts again and the door will lock itself and won't open for awhile before suddenly I am able to open it.

This sounds like a loose connection (solder joint) on the main control board. I had one that had a similar problem. checked the price of a control board $350. I took the control panel off, took the board apart and found a loose connection on one of the relays. resoldered the bad connection. oven works fine now.

try thermostat first. verify heating elements operational, if so check if tstats are same. swap if so, If not jump out tstat and see if higher temp achieved.

I have GE model#JKP45WOP2WG double oven wall unit. Lower oven isn't heating up properly. Bottom of lower oven doesn't seem as hot as the top of the oven... replaced oven sensor, not

Most double wall ovens are technically two separate oven boxes. The lower oven box has its bake, boil elements, high limit thermostat and ofcourse its own oven sensor. If the lower oven box boil is working good and less heat on bake feature may suggest that the bake element is burned out and only getting preheated with boil element. Just a suggestion here

Neither oven will heat when start is pressed, get a clicking sound from panel, temp stays at 100 deg.

Check for 220v as 110v will give one leg of power but not both. your breaker. or your control board is faulty.

Bottom oven doesn't heat after running self-clean cycle

Usually, when an oven won't heat, it's because the bake element is burned out. The bake element is the black, pencil- thick tube at the bottom of the oven. When the oven heats, the element glows red. This element has an expected life-span of several years. It may last for only one; it may last for many more. When the element burns out, you need to replace it.

Heating element

the chances are the top oven thermostat has gone and may need replacing. also check on any selector switches relating to the top oven unit they can burn out on the contacts. there is no seperate fuse.

Top oven will not heat up

Had a similar problem. The overheat sensor had failed to the open position and the oven control would light up and you could set the temp, but it would drop to 100 degrees and then go blank.
