Question about Canon Printers & Copiers

2 Answers

My Canon ip 2600 keeps prompting the alert "Document printing cannot be executed because the paper tray is closed. Open the paper output tray. Printing will restart. However, the paper tray is fully open and I have tried restarting the printer several times with the same alert popping up.

Tried moving the paper over, untightening it a bit. It doesn't even feel like the motors are trying to catch onto the paper. Feels like this thing is toastt. Anything else to try?

Turn off the printer for about an hour . This will rese the printer because it will clear the ROM chip on the unit. Then turn it back on and restart your computer. Make sure to UNPLUG from the power and not just turn off.

Move the paper a little to the left or right. Reinsert the paper all the way into the printer. Make sure that the edge guides are not too tight and abstructing the paper. Set the paper release lever to the single-sheet position if you are using single sheet.

The printer may be out of paper for the selected paper source. Make
sure the paper release lever is in the correct position, and load paper
in the current paper source. Press the Pause button to resume
printing. Paper on the front or rear paper guide is positioned too far
to the left, right or inside for the paper sensor to detect it. Move
the paper a little to the right, left or inside. When it is positioned
properly, the Paper Out and Pause lights go off.

if you had a paper jam on the printer before. inspect and check the printer for any paper has still stuck on the parts or into the roller this could be the one obstructing the motor and the roller and also the senor to work properly.

    first check for this mistake,

The blinking is just an attention light so there's nothing to worry about that. Try adjusting your paper tray to the paper size you are about to use. Or try checking the duplexer panif its positioned properly. Hope this helps.

Canon Pixma i4300. Front output paper tray pounced on by pet cat. Closed it up and opened it again When I try to print I get this message: "Document printing cannot be executed because the paper...

If you can remove the tray - have a look at it and it should come out without much force by pressing on the sides. If it comes out you may see the sensor inside that maybe is bent up and is not registering that the tray is open. If you see it you can bend it back down. You can also shoot canned air(with the tray in the out position of removed from the machine) and a piece of debris may come out. Use short squirts or the can gets very cold. All the office supply places and computer stores sell the cans of compressed air.

If none of the above helps, you can always communicate directly with Cannon at:

I have found them to be very helpful. Good luck..............................Pete

Error e03, but there is no jammed paper

E, 0, 3
Paper Output Tray is closed / Paper jam

Summary
If the Paper Output Tray is closed, open it. The machine resumes printing.

If opening the Paper Output Tray does not resolve the problem, or if the tray was open to begin with, the paper may be jammed. Remove the jammed paper, reload paper properly in the printer, then press the Black or Color button.

Apparently a solution has already been posted here: http://www.fixya.com/support/t345435-ip4300canon_printer

The author provides instructions on opening the printer and gluing the sensor into the "open" position (assuming that the sensor still works).
