ive got the mac osx 10.5.4. I definitely have the requirements... its says it works for 10.0.4 or later.

When I try to start the game after doing a full-install, it says that it can't read a certain file, "MISSound.bif" but when I search for the file, its nowhere to be found. I'm wondering if it's a missing file or something.

Same problem - very new operating system for Mac OS X - should be all the requirements there, but the program just quits after a few seconds of trying to load.  David Aamir said that it's because of old drivers - what old drivers exactly? How do I fix that problem?

I receive the following message: "An Assertion failed in ChDimm.cpp at line number 645," followed by "Programmer says: Unable to Open BIF:data:MISSound.bif.

This sounds like a standard problem for people who want to run BGII in Leopard. Is there a standard solution? A patch?

I have also experienced the same problem as the previous poster:

"An Assertion failed in ChDimm.cpp at line number 645," followed by "Programmer says: Unable to Open BIF:data:MISSound.bif.

However, the one solution posted doesn't seem very clear or applicable in this instance... The question is what those of use trying to run this game on OS X need to do in order to open the application. Does anyone have the key to solving this missing "MISSound.bif" mystery?

Means that in the "data" folder in your "BGII - SoA" folder, there is no copy of the "MISSSound.bif" file, which the game needs. Find it on the game CD and copy it. You'll do that about a dozen times with different files and then it'll work properly.

Unacceptable behavior, but at least it'll get your game working again.

Try uninstalling it using program like CCleaner or Revo Uninstaller. It should do the trick. I also recommend using Eraser to clean the mess in your registry left by programs that are no longer installed.

It means there is an error in either the code of your OS or the game, causing it to crash.
If this was a one-time error, and you can now run the game, you shouldn't worry about a thing. If it keeps giving the error, try deinstalling, then installing the game again. If that doesn't help either, I'm afraid you'll have to reinstall your operating system. (though I've only ever seen that on Windows machines)

I hope this helps,
Yannick.

Keeps quitting unexpectedly

Is the game a pirated copy? If so and the game recieves updates, you downloaded a patch from them that blocks a pirated copy of their game.

If not pirated, then you can try uninstalling and reinstalling. This is good if you think the program is corrupt on the computer.

To me it sounds like it got corrupt and a file is missing and that's why in won't run.

Anyways, hope this helps and good luck.
