The workaround on the HP website for the HP 6110xi Officejet printer does not work for my Dell using Vista Home Premium. Vista says it begins installing software for the printer, but the installation fails.

HP doesn't have a new driver, however, they say Vista will recognize it and they provide workarounds for you to print and scan.

Here is the support page for your 6110:

6110 Vista Setup

You will need to uninstall any software you have already loaded and delete your printer from the Printers and Faxes section of Control Panel before following the procedure.

P1005 hp printer windows vista will not recognise

hmmmm i would first make sure all window vista driver are in first. then try installing the cd. or if you want to try the driver only and not all the extra software...

1st uninstall the driver and software and do not connect the printer. until it asks you.

2nd put the factory cd for the printer but do not let it run automatically. cancel the installation.

3 you go to the control panel add printer, etc. have look for the driver and say "have cd" or go to the cd drive where the vista folder is holding the driver file.

i know this can be tidious but its kinda old school for installing a driver instead of letting the cd do it automatically have the computer find the driver on the cd first. dont add all the extra software. try it and see if it works then try to add all the extra software.

personaly i think sometimes the vista updates stuff where it screws with the drivers and then your computer does not know what its looking for. i hope this kinda helps. sorry for your mishap.

have you also tried connecting to all the usb slots?

How to use a printer?

Install a New Printer DIY installation of your new printer in Windows. You may have a new printer with an installation disc, or maybe a second hand one with no disc. Either way you will find out how to install your printer onto your computer.
Add Network Printer If you have two or more computers in your house or office you will only need one printer installed on one computer for both to have printing privileges. This article shows you how to add a network printer to Windows Vista.
Add Network Printer Applies to Windows XP. Even though the instructions are similar to installing a network printer on Windows Vista, there are a few extra tips that might be interesting.
Enable Printer and File sharing How to enable in Windows XP And Vista. If you want to share a printer on your network you must enable printer sharing. It is not hard to do but it will not work if it is not enabled.
Path to your network printer How to find the path \\server\printer. If Windows does not find your network printer automatically then you will need to know the path to your network printer.
Set Network printer permissions Set who can change printer settings in Windows XP and Vista. I personally like to let everyone on the network just print and not be able to change too many settings to do with the printer.

Network printer has problems printing - You do not have permission to use selected printer.

Can I use my Kodak 5300, installed as my network printer on a desktop running Windows XP with my new laptop running Vista? If so, do I run the install disk (with Vista drivers) on the laptop or what?

you should be able to as long as there are Vista drivers available.

make sure you first share your printer from the desktop it is attached to. then on the Visa laptop try to Add Printer choosing network printer (as opposed to local printer) and browse for the shared printer. Vista should tell you it has to install software so allow it to. Have the disk ready (does it have Vista drivers on it do you know?).

Word of caution: Vista's a little quirky with networked printers so you may have to delete the printer on the laptop and add it back if it doesn't work the first time (I had to do that even though all machines involved were Vista :/ ).

Cheers.

HP 4550 PRINTER PROBLEM

Go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Printers and add a printer. Select it as a network printer, and stop it searching (unless it finds it of course - which sounds unlikely!) Then click on "The printer that I want isn't listed"
Choose to add a printer using the IP or hostname, and click next.
Type in the IP address of the printer. This can be found by printing out the network configuration page from the printer. The port will be filled in for you. Click next.
The printer should now be added.

Brother's MFC-3240C All-In-One

I do not know if Windows Vista driver software for the MFC-3240C is available on CD/DVD.

You can download either the Full Driver & Software Package or the Add Printer Driver Wizard for Windows Vista ("regular" edition) from this page.

Driver for BJC-250 for Vista

I made it work on windows vista x64 and x32! Dont know on windows 7 but think it will though.

Just enter control panel in windows vista, locate "printer", double click it and inside you will se a "link" under the adress bar named "Add printer" enter it and a wizard should pop up, choose "Add a Local printer" --> "use existing port" I chose "LPT1" ---> locate the model and choose : Canon BJC 30, (Canon Bubble Jet 30). and after the wizard have installed you might be able to print.
