Re: alarm and power probelm
If you already took the printer apart, check the socket where you connect the printer to power, check that the connector soldering joints and contacts are not broke.
The circuit area near the AC adapter socket on the printer is the power board. If there is a fuse check it. If there is smell or trace of burnt, that means that a component, usually a capacitor, had blown.
If you do not find anything it must be the AC adapter terminal cable, or the connector , that has a broken contact.
To test it you need to get a multimeter and measure voltage from the AC adapter connector. Alternatively take the printer to a repair shop , tell them that you want to buy a power adapter for your printer, and ask to test a spare power adapter first. Many shops do not charge repair fee for this, as long as it can be done on the fly, and printer must not be left in for repairs.

Hello, Did the technician ask about any error codes in display?
For Example the number 2 from the center picture on display ( the picture of machine) or by pressing and holding the * (star) key on number pad show 2 numbers with the second being 817 in the red number area?
When the door is closed there is a one inch thin piece that gets inserted into a slot that activates a switch proving the door is closed..
There several resets you can try - holding down reset while powering on machine, Holding down just the "print position" left and right arrow keys (not the center) . and powering on equipment then typing "94" and then press start key. Note press clear if any numbers show up before hand.
If no results the part on door has broken or the switch is out of position to activate correctly,
Please tell any codes and we can go from there. TY
this is normally a symptom of the Fuser unit failing within the printer. our company uses nothing but Brother printers and i have seen this error a few times.
on very rare occasions its not the fuser and unplugging the power lead and leaving it for ten minutes will resolve the problem. if you have already tried this however the problem your getting is to-do with the Fuser unit within the printer being broken..
unfortunately from past experiences a replacement fuser unit for one of these laser printers is actually more than the cost of a new laser printer...
a quick google search revealed this site who are offering fuser replacements for $119.00
After you have rechecked that they are all fitted correctly, (which I know you have already done,) check to make sure that the lid is engaging the switch that will show that it is closed correctly. If this fails, remove each cartridge and see if its switch is OK and not damaged. Once this has been achieved and it still does not respond, it is time for the proffesional.
Before you do that though, try a reset of the printer:
1. Turn the printer off with the Power button (if available). 2. Disconnect the data cable from the printer. 3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in. 4. Turn the printer back on.
power cycle means to disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer whlie the printer is turned on,and than wait till 10 secs before repluging in the cable again.. do this step and it will resolve the probelm!
dear pengenmaen, It seem that the logic board of your printer is faulty. Mostly caused by short circuitry in your printer. Be careful that the most dangerous short circuitry sometimes cause the carriage part is faulty too. So, you'd better to replace both logic board and carriage part if you can do it by yourself. Otherwise, i suggest you to bring the printer to the nearest service center in your location. This problem commonly occurs in case of usage of refill ink.
