Question about Nikon Cameras

Nikon Coolpix digital camera L18

I am getting no flash on my camera. There is an ISO symbol on the bottom left hand side of my digital screen, and when it does take a picture, a red light flickers, but not the white light for the flash.

How can I get it back to flash and not ISO.

The red light is probably the focusing beam. I'd guess that your flash is turned off somewhere in your settings. Go through the menu and if you find that it is not turned on there might be a hardware problem. Also, if the flash is set to automatic, it will not work when it thinks there is enough light to take a good pic.

When trying to take a pic, a red camera symbol with two curve at both sides at the bottom of the camera symbol appears...this comes up in bottom left hand corner. Please help. Thank you, Robin

Sounds like the warning of low shutter speed end therefore the tanger to get "hanshake" blur captured. Use flash if possible or highter ISO setting or steady hands ;)

I have a Nikon CoolPix L18, but none of the instructions are in English, how do I set the timer?

Press left on the multiselector (marked with a one-handed clock) then make your choice. Start the self-timer by pressing the shutter release button.

Is it worth fixing a broken LCD Screen on a Nikon Coolpix L18

That's up to you, of course. You can get a new screen here, but the cost is about the same as a used L18, and not that much less than a new L22 or L24. If it was me, I'd replace the L18 instead of repairing it.

My Nikon 8.0 mp iso 1600 camera's flash has stopped functioning. What can I do to get it fixed?

Make sure you have fresh batteries in your camera. If that doesn't do try the auto function on the camera, so if you are in a dark area it will flash.

Broken screen

You can purchase a replacement screen for around $55.00 in US, or go on ebay for $20.00 and it is shipped from Hong Kong.

Anyone know how to replace the screen on Nikon Coolpix L18?

Once you have all the screws out, seperate from the bottom first and then gently pry at the top sides to break the factory seal. The screen has a thin strip of black tape along the right edge you can pull off. Lift up on the screen to reveal the attached electronic strip attached to the board. It is attached with a grey strip that is hinged, just lift up to remove the strip. Replace with the new screen and reassemble your covers.

Flashing red hand keeps popping up, when batteries

The flashing red light is warning you that the shutter speed will be too long for handholding the camera. Put the camera on a tripod or other stable surface, and/or use the flash.
