Casio ex-s500 front facade around lens has come off
The metal ring around the lens on the front of our Casio ex-s500 has come off. Actually, there is an outer ring that sits upon some cosmetic metal that makes up the stylized front. It would appear by the look that it is a twist lock mechanism, but it does not rotate.
Could we be missing a part that holds the ring to the front?

My wife accidentally dropped ours and the ring popped off when it hit the floor. It does just twist back on. You just have to get it lined up just right and then it will essentially snap into place. If you don't get the ring lined up right though it will just conitinue to fall off. I've had focussing issues with mine ever since the ring came off though.

It can be reglued with Superglue, but be very careful not to use the glue from the tube or you could get it everywhere. First focus the lens on infinity. This is the furthest back or most withdrawn position of the lens. The infinity marking on the ring will be beside the diamond or dot indicator. Put a little bit of Superglue onto the end of a matchstick, and then use the matchstick to put traces of the Superglue on the lens barrel, exactly where the ring will sit. carefully place the ring on its correct position on the lens barrel.
i have the same exact problem with mine. it's two and a half years old as well. i also noticed that if you try taking pictures in any of the best shot modes the pictures come out looking like paintings.
This error indicate that focusing ring got stuck or jammed due external shock, liquid, sand & dirt etc. enters the camera.
What you can try to do is spray some compressed air into the lens area to try to free up any sand or dust that may have worked its way in. If that doesn't help, you can gently bump the camera to try to free the focusing ring.
You can try to turn camera ON at the table (facing it to the ceiling), don't put camera down face to the floor when opening.
Else your camera need to be disassembled to get at the focusing ring.
Good luck and have a nice day.

If the photo shoot out show white , the obscure (quality
variation), and even horizontal line ( white lines), and so on over-exposure
cases, even if the use of anti-tremor, set to default values are invalid,
because the camera shutter fault.
they are on the front side once you remove the cover diconnect the ribbon cables and look at the bottom right hand corner and there is one of your clips. the other one is caddy corner to it top left of the lens. I fix them also.
Remove the Back and front covers, then use a small flathead screwdriver to release the 2 hinges that hole the lens assy down; then unlatch the 2 ribbons cables. Now you can install the new lens assy. If you're not going to use the "old lens assy, can I have it, please? Thanks.
