Re: acer aspire 3000
1. this one is obvious but is probably best to check.. are your access points broadcasting the ssid? if not get that fix first or manually configured your workstation by entering the ssid you had configured in your access point with the respective pass/key
2. did you download the correct driver? check in device manager for any ! or ? next to your wireless adapter (network adapter) then do the following if any:
a. rollback to the previous driver by doing a driver rollback (device manager, device properties, driver tab) then test.
b. uninstall and reinstall the driver that you got from the laptop manufacturer, check the model is the same correct one.

I have an Acer Aspire 4720Z and had the same problem earlier today. There is a button wireless connection button on my keyboard above the F4/F5 keys. It is identified with an icon that resembles a satellite dish. I pressed it and am back online. It has a indicate light that flashes when in use. Good luck.
If You downloaded the correct wifi drivers and still didn't get wireless...
Choose a different series... Try acer aspire 3000 wifidrivers... then Acer Aspire 5000 wifi drivers, if still no luck... Choose the acer ferrari 3000 wifi driver.. or the acer travelmate 5530 wifi driver/..
I've had alot of Acer Aspire models.. including yours... and I too would have to jump around to different models to get all correct drivers,...

If your wireless network adapter is OK then :-
If your wireless connection is on the Task Bar the right click on this Icon and left click on REPAIR. If no Icon on Task Bar the click on Control Panel - Network Connections - then right click on your LAN Connection and left click on REPAIR.
This will get your wireless router to issue your wireless card with a new IP address.

You should find out which one is yours. To do this click start->right-cllcik on computer. When the system window opens click on device manager located under tasks on the left hand side. When the device manager opens double-click on network adapters and one of the two devices(Atheros wireless LAN or Broadcom wireless LAN) will be listed.
