I recently purchased a second hand i-mate K-jam to replace my old one. However when I turned it on for the first time it asked me to enter the pin code. Because I do not know the previous owners pin code, I can only use the 'non phone' features.
How can I reset the pin code so I can use the phone functions?

you can restore the phone to factory default by going to Start-Settings-System-Remove Programs. Or you can do a hard reset by pressing the Comm button + Off button + Vioce cmd button + pressing reset pin on side of phone at the same time and holding it for about 20 sek. till phone restarts.
HARD RESET PROCEDURE hold down the power button and push the reset. You don't have to use a paper clip if you've styles fits, but don't use anything sharp, such as a safety pin. This should return your PDA to the way it came from the box.

the PIN code is the SIM security ... remove the SIM card the phone will start normally ...
for the PIN code reset try to enter the code for 3 times then it will ask you for the PUK code it's 8 digits by the defualt it's 00000000 if this doesn't work call your service provider (the GSM provider) and ask him to give you your PUK code then you will be able to reset the PIN code and use the SIM card with your i-mate
